Forums - Microsoft - LEFT 4 DEAD 2 FIRST REVIEW ! 9.5 !

The demo got me bought. it's fun to be playing as a group like that. Though there are many areas where it could certainly be improved for a better flow of the game.

the matchmaking looked like a pain.... I took 10 mins to get a good game going (idle channel owners or whatever the term is), then we played for 2 hours trying different difficulties (good group though one guy apparently didn't know how to mute his mic and we had to listen to him tell his mom that he didn't have class the next day which is why he could be up at 3 AM (9 AM for me :p)).

based on the demo only, I'd say the 9.5 is justified.... if you play with friends or a manage to get a good group of people...

Otherwise... probably just 8.5...for the frustration.

My philosophy is that singers should make their revenues based on concerts, TV/radio royalties (hence commercially oriented use of their music for gaining audience or for shows/movies), from nightclubs playing the music...
Movies should get money in the same way, Theatre, DVD before TV showing and the TV showing.
But as soon as the music airs on the radio or the film airs on TV, it should be void of royalties for the customer (anyone could have recorded it...) and the prices of DVD/CDs should be minimal ($5 about) and only for the service of putting it available in a nice jacket while downloading or copying it should become legal.
So yeah pirating games is much worse as they don't have alternative revenue opportunity.

Awezombie!

Do you guys think it would be able to push 800k copies first week WW ? At first I was thinking that is impossible, but then I saw Borderlands numbers for X360 L4D2 jumped high with preorders in US, if it goes well in the others it could make it.

Weird, when Official PlayStation Magazine gives a PS3-exclusive a high score, there's immediate "BIAS... of course they would give their own games that" and a huge fight about that.

Now it's the other way around and it's "yay for L4D2" ...

(not that I doubt the game's fun factor and all, having played it at EA, but still... weird analogy)

^^
@donsterydo2

Left4Dead only sold 400k LIFETIME in others..

I predict,

400k First week America
100k First week Others

@papfleje

Yeah, I agree.. but I dont think either as biased.

Err... it's not exclusive... it's a PC & 360 game... *Runs*

OT: I loved the demo, so I can understand the score. However, it feels like the game Left 4 Dead should have been to me. I probably won't be getting it unfortunately due to lack of funds and other games higher on my priority list.

I wish I didn't buy the first one this year.

As expected...must have co-op for the holidays.

I feel reviewers are going to be to generous with this game. I'm a fan of Left 4 Dead but a 95 is crazy for such a repetitive and simple game.

You can pretty much say that about any game out there.

Umm... WHAT?!?!?! It's true that many games are repetitive and simple, but Left 4 Dead is insanely repetitive and often pointless.

You just run>kill some zombies on the way>complete objective(s)>get scored>repeat

There isn't even a highscore list in the game

Ok, name a game; I'm sure someone can point out the repetitive nature of that game.  People enjoy it enough to play it over and over again.  This is the same with many games, along with their sequels; repetition is really not a problem if you are having fun.  If not, it would probably be better to play, or do, something else.

There is a highscore list, although it is pretty pointless, it is on survival mode.

I'm not sure what you are reading, but I've seen plenty of posts in this thread already that imply L4D2 shouldn't be getting a score anywhere near 95.
