Forums - Gaming - New Super Mario Bros. Wii Vs. Little Big Planet

I'd say LittleBigPlanet since you can play pretty much every Super Mario level on it and anything else you can possibly think of.

Mario is better because it's Mario.

LBP should feel honored to get even mentioned. For example, I would rank Sonic and Donkey Kong Country way higher.

I don't like your new avatar...

Heretic.

I'd show you what-for, but once again I'm relegated to being a pushover boss. Nonetheless, boo and hiss to you sir!

No no no, you got me all wrong.  It's not that I don't like the character in your avatar, I don't like that it's not a Kim Possible avatar.

I haven't play NSMB Wii

as its not similar to Mario World, according to axumblade anyway I may not like it as much as I hoped

LBP is a very very fun game, 4th best game this gen imo

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Here's a question I'd like an honest answer for:

Is LBP worth it if you don't have your PS3 connected to the internet!? How does the single player and local multiplayer hold up?

I'm definitely getting NSMB, but haven't got LBP yet due to cRaZy thing happening in my life, and now that I have like 2 months for pure gaming there is Uncharted2, L4D2 etc. to keep me busy. So, IS IT WORTH IT?

I haven't played LBP in a long time, but honestly, I didn't find the community levels all that exciting.  For every good level I played, I had to play about 10 bad ones (yes, they were all highly rated so you actually have to play them to know if they're good, I wasn't just blindly picking).  I'm not sure about the co-op since I don't really like co-op in most cases (I'll be playing NSMBWii alone).

If we're not counting co-op then New Super Mario Bros Wii kicks LBP square in the stones. Co-op play is the heart and soul of Little Big Planet.

Hmmm ok thanks guys. Don't want to derail the thread. I think I'll pick it up 2nd hand next year. As for NSMB, that game deserves my money so it's a day one buy!

You can play every Super Mario level but Sackboy is slow and floaty while Mario is fast and precise.

I'm a huge fan of LBP, and I totally agree with this.  I think anyone should be honored to be mentioned with Mario, let alone 2d mario, the game that started it all.  Sonic and DKC are also all-time great games.  It remains to be seen whether LBP stands the test of time, but it does have a lot of aspects that make it outright different from the rest of these games.  Online multiplayer with great built-in community networking and matchmaking, a level editor unlike any other level editor, and of course a pretty well organized mass of over a million levels out there, something no other game ever made can boast.

But come on; Mario, seriously?  There are no mushrooms that make you a giant in LBP, let me put it that way.
