Can we just sumarise it as
NSMB will be much better under the metrics usually used to judge a platformer
LBP has user generated content and online.
As for which game will implement the multiplayer better, dunno, haven't played NSMB

just not gonna count... so I'll just leave this as a debate...
well lbp is essentially a mario clone anyway (with a few mondo features to make it seem more spiffy) so give me the original and best any day!!!
(mind you i bought my ps3 the day lbp came out! I can't say no to decent 2d platformer!!!)
Yay!! Looks like here
people are leaning to NSMBWII =D
to LBP =P
ps. if I ofended anyone who read this don't report it I've just been banned
NSMBWii has all this back material it can reference. It feels like a spiritual successor to SMB3 while still pulling bits from every 2D mario platformer and even a bit from Mario Party. As usual, great level design and Nintendo's ability to make something immediately accessible but still fun to play for seasoned gamers makes this game really good. System seller for me.
LittleBigPlanet, while lacking the nostalgia factor and time-tested formula that NSMBWii has, manages to stand on its own as a good platformer with puzzles. The creativity of the userbase never ceases to amaze me, and warrants booting the game up at least once a month just to see what's new. Local multiplayer is a blast whether you're playing some insanely well made user created map or just having another go at Meerkat Bounce.

Okay, after playing with the wife, I will say that New Super Mario Bros Wii is the superior game (I imagine members looking at my avatar, rolling their eyes, and tut-tut-tutting, but it is what it is).
LBP is still stupidly fun though.
| RolStoppable said: Mario is better because it's Mario. LBP should feel honored to get even mentioned. For example, I would rank Sonic and Donkey Kong Country way higher. |
I don't like your new avatar...
Also, I've only briefly played the new Mario and already I like it better. LBP is an average at best platformer with a wonderful art style and a level editor, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a fantastic platformer with a meh art style. I'll take the fantastic game over the average game any day.
Anyone else find it odd that LBP has a 94 ranking on gamerankings but NSMB Wii only has an 89? I find that very hard to believe that LBP is the better game..
I have both games and played them both with 4 players. On World 4 currently on NSMB Wii.
LBP: The DLC and the costume customization is a great feature that many enjoy (half the time we just play dress-up more than the game lol). The team work is alot better and well oriented. You cant really get killed so much by your partners. LBP requires the skills used from hopping on enemies or using the enviroment. Online is fun but i prefer playing in the same room with friends/fam.
NSMB Wii: Playing 4 players i can say you die alot easier and sometimes team mates get in the way causing you to die faster. You rely on your weapon/suits to help you through as its always been with Mario games. The style and gameplay just makes NSMB Wii more appealing and fun.
Overall i choose Mario over LBP. LBP definately brought in new experience and is still very fun, but Mario always manages to be on top when it comes to 2D platform. Its just the whole formula to what makes a 2D Mario game so great.
BTW to those that played, is it just me or is like every boss-big castle fight is just like a Megaman boss fight where you glide into the boss' screen and the door behind you closes on you trapping you to fight the boss? lol
NSMBW because it focuses on local multiplayer.
