Forums - Gaming - Braid got an 85 on ps3 vs 88 on 360/PC via IGN

Who cares there are plenty of games that DID deserve a lower score but got the same...Would you like me to spend half an hour researching the ones that are slightly graphically inferior on the PS3 compared to Xbox that got exactly the same reviews word for word?

So which way do you want it?

It probably has much more to do with the two reviews being written by different people than IGN making a conscious decision as a while to give the game a lower score because it's an old port, though that does happen I'm sure.

Personally I don't think that this game should be downgraded because the only things that could've changed since Braid originally came out would be the price of the XBL version (I had Machina check and it seems to be the same price) and the expectations with graphics from a technical standpoint which Braid was never on the cutting edge of in the first place.

Obviously IGN is biased in favour of the 360 by 0.3

People are undervaluing how much 0.3 is. That's almost 1/3 of 1%, and 1% can be the difference between AAA and AAAA.

Actually, 0.3 is 3 %. That means that this is a really big deal.

3%!? Wow!! This is unforgivable!!! The guy who wrote the review should be fired! It's plainly obvious that he's a Microsoft fanboy that is bitter about Braid being released in the PS3!

3% is enough to separate the amazing games from the really good games, and the really good games from the pretty good games!!!

He was taking the piss, chillout ;) - Anyways 0.3 is 30% on the decimal scale

Maybe I laid it on too thick, but sometimes topics like this are too hard to resist.

I would ask if it's a different reviewer, ask whether that 0.3 is going to affect sales or even makes a difference? A score is not a measure of quality it's a quantification of someone's opinion.

3 points mattered a lot for a certain Japanese hack and slash game...

Which game was that?

Different reviewer.
Look at the scores in the sub categories. Totally different

Yeah but for the majority of the sub categories the PS3 version scores higher than the 360 version.

I hope they get fired because they are obviously biased.

Not.

Lower score because games age, different reviewer, nobody cares about a late port so why should you syndrome, and chives.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

older games usually get a lower score...even if it is the same :/ that's jus how world is...

The PSN version is exactly the same as the XBL version? I guess the exclusive content policy for late ports only applies for retail games then. It makes sense though. Retail games drop in price after awhile. So in order to compensate for that, you need to offer extras to justify a $60 price tag for a year old game. However, XBL games don't devalue in price like retail games do. Braid and Castle Crashers are still $15.

who cares if its a different reviewer? If it is then they should have TWO people review one game and average the score out, its not fair to the PSN game for those choosing between the two, the majority will get the XBL one because of that score.

No, wrong. Different reviewers have different opinions, there is no overall opinion of IGN. That is clearly obvious when looking at GotY awards vs actual review scores, as well as instances like this.

However, that said, Braid came out much later on PS3 than it did on 360, did it not, so if I were the same reviewer, I'd deduct a couple of tenths of a point also. A late port is worse than a brand new game.

Also, 8.5 is a travesty. This game is AAA.
