Reggie should take the bet back because he´s gonna lose.

Oh, it's basically guaranteed to do it lifetime imo. That was never really in dispute, it was more the "this year" cutoff Reggie threw out.

Why do you bring this crap up? I don't understand how Modern Warfare's initial sales should have anything to do with this site's most wanted game.
It's about as much nonsense as finding it "laughable" that we don't all play and enjoy Wii Fit (as opposed to smaller games on HD consoles), seeing as how it has nearly kept up with PS3 hardware sales.
edit: Or that PS3 is the favorite console here, considering it's last in sales.
As for MW2 360 selling more in its first week than NSMB Wii's holidays, I'd bet against it. Mario Kart Wii did 2.3mil in its first 7 weeks, and the game was during April on a smaller userbase.
The only Wii games that sell consistently well for years have been games with "Wii" in the title (besides Wii Music).
The new Mario game will probably be #1 this week. Especially since it's the only game worth buying for the Wii this year.

Well then, Good thing they didn't go with New Super Mario Bros. 2.

How come this didn't apply to Mario Kart DS -> Wii?
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
Okay I am going to be out of line here, but the hell with it. I'm going to go ahead and say that the PS3 verison of MW2 only is going to out sell NSMBWii by the end of this year. If you think that I'm crazy, will then remember a couple on months ago nobody thought that the PS3 version of MW2 was going to sell even close to HALO ODST numbers, but now it appears that MW2 destroy ODST numbers. So if I am right then you heard it here first.

Actually it'll crush combined MW2 sales in the stretch, the only issue is how much it'll sell by the end of January |
And what makes you think that? The last Mario game's lifetime sales were beat by MW2 in like 3 days. Why will NSMB fare any better? Do you think that NSMB is gonna be bigger than Brawl and Galaxy and be up there with Wii Fit in sales? I don't think so.
And it's already near 10M after 1 week. Are sales of MW2 just gonna....stop? I don't see NSMB hitting 10M let alone 15M, but I see MW2 surpassing 15M combined, easily
