Forums - Nintendo - Will Dragon Quest X Still Come to Wii

DQIX's success on DS is overrated, yes it has shipped 4.2m of copies but (and this is somehow ignored everywhere) the game is priced 30$ lower than previous mainline Dragon Quest game. (60$ vs 90$)

Dragon Quest VIII was more profitable than DQIX is. This is one of the reasons why DQX will stay on the Wii.

What do you mean "was" can't you atleast wait until it have been released in the NA and "others" first before saying something like this and DIX was probably much cheaper to make then DQ8.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

You don't know how much money SE is making on DQIX, nor how much it cost to develop DQIX.  It did take nearly 5 years to make DQIX however.  Its arguable, but it might be the biggest and most costly DS game ever made.  It certainly looks to be.  But that aside, its most likely also going to generate the most units sold for a single DQ game in Japan as well, surpassing DQVII.  And once it releases to the international market and with the aid of Nintendo and (hopefully) SquareEnix, it might sell another million+.

Its not hard to say that DQIX could easily be more profitable than DQVIII.  Price per unit sold isn't the only measure of profit.  But considering the game is selling at a near 64 converted US dollars in Japan, I don't think they're missing that much profit.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Dude Iwata was there to make to give the news , its a Wii only and the best selling game on the in japan for 2010 (YES BETTER THAN FF13) and FFCC it didint had a bad start , its gonan get better next week you will see...

if they do a DQ7 remake on Wii, i think it'll give us an idea. But yeah it doesnt look so well for the wii does it?

Of course, we don't really know if it will happen of if it won't.  But either way, trestes trying to prove his theory as fact is not the sort of reliable answer I would even dare to seek.  Especially since it's full of so much negativity.  Until S-E officially announces otherwise, I'm not going to bother with the speculation.  This thread will just go nowhere.

What theory are you talking about?

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

The theory that Dragon Quest X will be the ONLY game left from S-E for Wii and that there will be nothing else from them. The cold hard truth is we don't even know if that's going to be the case. How do you know otherwise? Did you just talk with a representative with them or something?

Your "predictions" sound more like axe-grinding than legitimate. Sites like GoNintendo.com will be the only way I'll learn about what S-E has next for Wii or not, not some hateful rant.

I thought SE were bringing a port of DQ1X to the Wii.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

either way Square already said that DQX is coming to the Wii, so as far as we know it is. Sqaure is already investing lots of money on FFXIII for PS3 and 360.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

@JTurner: I didn't say nothing else, please read properly. I said nothing else that is big. It will keep on getting crappy games like Soul Eater, FMA, DS ports, spinoffs. But no big projects. SE is commited already on that, otherwise the console with the biggest userbase in Japan would have had a serious game announced for it for a near future release, but no, it's been 3 years still and the only game they announced was DQX which comes out in 2012 or so, which came out of nowhere and Iwata was there. It's probably too obvious that there was an agreement between both sides.

Quote me on it, SE won't bring anything big to the Wii besides DQX.
My predictions are based on reality, while yours are based on hope.
