Forums - Gaming - My game of the year is Batman: Arkham Asylum...

unlucky, its Dragon age Origins for me!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Mine is probably, in some order, Arkham Asylum, New Super Mario Bros, and Resident Evil 5. Shattered Memories may knock RE5 off, though.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

very good game...i would probably rate it like this

1. Uncharted 2 (PS3)
2. Assassin's Creed 2
3. Modern Warfare 2
4. Batman AA

Those of you that haven't checked out assassin's creed 2 yet...definitely one of the best single player games i played...much better than the first one

I really liked batman also, great story too and its batman, who would have known. Anyways I don't really go for collectibles but I found them highly addictive in this game. Once I passed it doh I didn't had any more interest in the game.
I'll probably play it again doh. The gameplay in this game is excellent.

My favorite games for this gen:

1. Gears of War    2. MGS4    3. Killzone 2   4. Halo 3(Underated by many)      5. Mass Effect

I forgot about Street Fighter IV. That game was awesome, too, but I still think I'd just rank it at #4. Possibly #3.

Around the Network

1. U2
2. AC2
3. Dragon Age: Origins

I'm certain of the #1 spot, the rest however, is a tough one..

1. Uncharted 2: Among Theives

2. Batman: Arkham Asylum

3. Killzone 2

Funny you should mention Batman:AA because I just got it today from Lovefilm and absolutely hated it. Played it for an hour, was bored out of my mind and sent the game back today as well. Opinions indeed. An hour was more than enough, it had become a choir at that point to keep playing the game. Perhaps it's due to me having no interest in the Batman franchise but meh rubbish game either way.

an hour is too short to realize how good the game is. you don't even get to understand the subtleties of the combat/stealth mechanic nor do you get the first riddle.. or maybe you just don't like batman, yeah.

I think that's just part of the problem of modern game design. Games just take too long to get into. If a game isn't interesting in the first hour it's failed in that aspect.

Personally, I loved the game. Definitely in my top 5, but the slow start is certainly preventing me from starting a new file.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

A Koopa's Revenge II gameplay video

batman AA is good. but lets be honest here the game is more repetitive then Assassins creed.

Oh why do all the bosses fight the same. I thought the battles would have all been different and involved different skills but really it was like

Muscle man runs at ya. Whack with your bat boomerang thing. Jump out of way. Beat shit out of them. repeat process with sometimes a tiny bit of variety.

Next box fight. Rinse and repeat, Oh with a few extra enemies just to get in your way.

Why do most the bosses fight the same? Even the crock boss whack with bat boomerang thing. Falls in water. Repeat 1000 times and run your ass off.

Still it was a good game but nothing i could replay

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

i don't see how a game that has 0 innovation from four generations ago could be mentioned in the same breath as batman.
