Well, I am enjoying Dragon Age a little more and here's why. I always feel that RPG games should be about story and character development. The only two examples that I feel did a really great job in breaking that mold and still being great are Diablo II and Demon Souls.

That said, playing Dragon Age on PC really helps me remember why I love this genre so much. It might even be my GotY this year, and I'm having a ton of fun with it.

So, yeah, I thought it might be the case, but I think DA:O on PC is going to be my GotY this year, just like Fallout 3 was last year. Great game.

Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, MW2, nothing else really lived up to my POST REVIEW expectations this year like Dragon Age. I can honestly say, that it's one of the best games I've played this gen, and the reviews didn't reflect that, so I give it the nod. :P

Demon Souls is definitely my second fav RPG this year though. Even better than Bowser's Inside Story, which is very, very good also, and a 9/10, and probably the highest rated of all these games?

I played both, both rock but Dragon Age: Origins would get my vote without question.
The interactions with your party members and the way they behave add a lot to the game..
I think it's the first game I will miss not having the party members to chat and flirt with once I have beaten the main story ( on last boss right now).

Yeah, Bowsers Inside Story is a 91 on Meta. It is the highest of the 3.

I should have Dragon Age coming soon, after Borderlands on my Gamefly account. I am very much looking forward to playing it. What would you compare it to gameplay wise? Diablo? Champions of Norrath? I really don't know much about how it plays exactly, I am just hoping for tons of loot. I like tons of armor and weapon options.

I also agree with you on your point with Diablo II and Demon's Souls breaking the mold on needing to be about story and character development. In both game I felt the story was more told through the gameplay. It is a HUGE reason as to why I am a big fan of both game, especially Diablo II. I lost 3 years of my life to that game. One of the greatest ever made IMO.

I am also still in my first playthrough of Demon's Souls, clocked at around 94 hours.

The difference with these three games, as far as metacritics go, is the lowest score. Bowsers is sitting at 80, while DS has a bottom score of 60??? No way the game deserved a 60 from a "professional" journalist. If you read his review it seems like he had a bug up his ass for the game from the start (that or he never could figure out how to actually play the game)

All three of these games are deserving of the title, and whichever one wins out is fine with me (for overall) They will each win their respective consoles (DA for xbox/pc, DS for ps3 and Bower for DS)

I work with stupid amounts of data every day (just like metacritics with many different review sources).  We ALWAY throw out the top/bottom 2 pieces of data before we do our average (if the total number of data sets is over 15)

Actually, with Demon's Souls reviews, I was expecting a AAA game and got it. The user reviews for Dragon Age have been freakin' fantastic from the community and most websites I've visited. I think right now, the general concensus is that the game is actually better than what the review average indicates....

So it's a double edged sword.

IGN gave Fallout 3 (9.4) overall GOTY over MGS4 (10) and GTA IV (10). They also gave Left 4 Dead (9.0) shooter of the year over Resistance 2 (9.5) and GOW2 (9.5). Dragon Age will win it from IGN simply because it'll get votes from both the PC and Xbox team.

You saw that buggy mess from the first videos on saw a AAA game coming?  Because that's what we're talking about, Demon's Souls was written off until it actually released somewhere, Dragon Age was expected to be amazing from the getgo due to developer pedigree.

I am not even sure if that 67 was the game's worst review. There is one (not sure if it's on Meta) where guys hates that the game has no long drawn out story, you get hurt from "the slightest fall", you don't get new weapons and armor often enough, that you're punished for dying, that you lose half your life when you're a soul (guess he never found the cling ring?), you can't sell items, game doesn't tell you to hold onto boss souls to trade later on, that accidentally killing an NPC can hurt you for good (No shit?).

In other words, he was mad that he sucked at the game and that it didn't hold his hand while he played.

I had to bold that last one though because when I read it I face palmed.

I actually agree with both of those conclusions though.

I hated Resistance 2 and I found Fallout 3 to be better than GTAIV and MGS4.
