That is my game consoles. They just work with games. With the PC I have seen the following:
1. Graphic glitches that ended up being a graphics card I bought MONTHS earlier. It wasn't like the RROD, but took months to figure out.
2. Viruses.
3. Failure of games to work, because of driver issues.
4. An inability to play the Beyond the Sword expansion for Civilization, because of anti-piracy protection that makes it impossible to read the expansion disk.
Do you want other former PC gamers to tell you why they aren't PC gamers any longer? I could also go into the lack of game genres action gamers want to play. In areas where the PC is good, and consoles are lacking, they tend to be in overabundance. Stuff like RTS for example, and massive-multiplayer online, and moddable FPS. You also have flash and garage games. Beyond that, if someone is a fighting game fan, they don't have too many choices. The number of big budget title genres has shrunk on the PC.

So all you can come up with is "short campaign, bad multiplayer" have you played the campaign OR the multiplayer? No? cool. |
I don't need to play the game to know that it has less maps, less players, and worse latency than MW1. Fact.

I think they're the best kind. They've seen both worlds, and they have distanced themselves from PC elitism. Plus they are able to admit that PC gaming is infested with piracy and hypocrisy.

Uhh...
I like how PC gamers are accused of elitism, then console gamers respond with this nonsense.
In any event, I've owned a console every generation since the NES, up to and including the Wii. I'm a gamer, not a console gamer or a PC gamer. I think it's ridiculous that people get so bent out of shape picking sides.

U culd be concrete instead of just saying 'nonsense'.
Anyway, I'm a PC gamer first and foremost. Always have been. But since i wanna experience all good games I get consoles too.

I am sure bunch of former PC gamers are pretty much aware that the you get better specs with a PC version of a game. You switch out after you get fed up with the maintenance headaches and risks of games not working due to drivers. You know you give up some things, in exchange for less headaches. I fit in that category. As far as "dying" goes, PC gaming, as a percentage of the gaming market, is shrinking, and is less relevant. Companies are making the jump to consoles, because they have less headaches they have to deal with doing this. |
LOL
I used to play games in the days when you had to set IRQ and DMA values for your soundcard, tweak your autoexec.bat and run a bootdisk to have enough memory to run. These days, PC gaming is a piece of cake.
And no, PC gaming isn't dying, it's changing. Did you include MMO's in your "percent of the gaming market?" I didn't think so...

Actually, it has been growing again. It is a cycle, both a cycle of overall PC install base (of current gen PCs) and cycles of genre popularity. The PC star is rising again, and will probably continue to do so. And as far as the headaches go, most of us do not have them really.

Who is projecting now? Why u assume I have some hidden deep-psychological motives when I just clearly explained my reasons? Geez.. I can't believe I' having this topic so many times. Are you blind or what? Just because u yourself may purchase games, dont u see and read the evidence about how incredibly huge PC piracy is? All round the world. |
I have written extensively on these forums about this topic, where after checking a good part of your post history.. when it comes to PC gaming you mostly spout nonsensical one-liners with no reasoning to back them up.
Also, see new part I highlighted - that is actually a centerpiece of the argument against piracy-trolls... piracy rates certainly differ in different regions of the world. But, Russian PC gamers are not USA PC gamers. Neither are Eithiopian, Swedesh or Chinese gamers. Sorry, its a different crowd, and you have to accomodate for all differences and cannot make a reasonable argument by lumping different regions and demographics into one "group" to make any type of reasoned argument. If you are going to duscuss groups, you need to accomodate all the defining factors and relevant descriptors or else you just sound silly. ( or like a troll... )
The social and economic climates experienced by one area certianly do not hold true for the whole world.
So as I said, speak for yourselves and stop projecting your own poor behavior and groupthink on the rest of the world. K? Thnx.
Sure there are pirates int he USA as well, and everywhere else... but piracy is actually not a large motivator in publisher business decisions, nor is the industry dying, nor is it a bigger problem than it was 10 or 15 or even 20 years ago. It is a persistant factor, and not a particularly relevant one.
WOW. 1.4? It must be damn near unplayable, right? Because thats a 1.4 should represent.
When did we go from reviewing games for what they had, to reviewing them for what they dont have?
Go to amazon and look at all the 1 star reviews. People need to get a grip. You dont like it, dont buy it. Dont go around skewing review averages and tricking people into thinking its a piss-poor game. That just makes you a dick.

Most posts on these forums are one-liners. It's not necessarily trolling. It can also be using time as effectively as possible.
U urself post one-liners.
I know that piracy is less common in the Anglo-Saxon countries, but u make it sound like Sweden aint representative for the world when it is.
Bah forget it.. this is a waste of time. I refuse to argue about such a basic and obvious fact (whether piracy is big or not). You are the troll for not admitting it (and therefor I know u are a pirate too).
