Forums - Nintendo - My Modern Warfare Wii Rant aimed at developers and publishers.

Ok so from what I am reading and hearing today, the main problem with this title are the controls. While that doesn’t sound like a big deal as such, they can be tweaked etc, if its making the game difficult to play its gonna be a huge turn off for potential buyers. This is exactly why I think Activision held back on any coverage or early reviews for the title. Why such a big deal ? Well here is why, I think!  J

Firstly, Activision are preparing for one of the biggest launches in their company’s history. If they knew about the issues stated above in IGNs preview the last thing they were going to do was allow reviewers access to the title, especially since it holds the Modern Warfare name. Any negative press surrounding the Modern Warfare name prior to release of MW2 may do damage to its reputation and potentially effect sales, not just on the Wii version but may have impacted sales on the 360/ps3 MW2 version (although I cant imagine by much).

Its all about revenue guys and activision clearly wanted to ride the wave of success of MW2 and make as much money out of this brand name as possible and hoped wii owners would just pick up the Wii version based on critical and commercial success of MW2. You can clearly see Activision wanted to milk as much money out of people as possible by hiking up the price of the title and telling the consumers it will be worth it due to the fact the game is incredible. That fact alone annoys me. Shouldn’t games developers strive to make all the games they develop incredible and not use the price increase as an excuse that the have actually tried this time around ?

Im sick of developers and publishers ignoring the wii and then blaming us gamers and wii owners for the lack of decent titles. If they stop releasing wave after wave of half arsed attempts and tried something new, innovative and exciting instead of porting 2 year old titles, or on the rail shooters, or board games, party games then maybe sales would be higher. Dead Space on Wii?? No thanks. While im sure it’s a fine game, it was the easy way out. New resident evil on the rails coming this week? Why?? Because developers are cashing in on brand names instead of actually putting effort into it. Why don’t Wii owners deserve a new 3rd person Resident Evil?? Well im sure we can look forward to a resi 5 port in approx 2 years time.!!   Sorry went on a bit of a rant there. My point being, activision know damn well what they are up to with Modern Warfare on Wii, and while I never wish any title on Wii to flop, if this title is as bad as ign suggest, then I hope people saved their hard earned cash, make the game flop, teach these developers that we will no longer stand for sub standard titles and maybe then they will pull the finger out and actually try something different.

"Wii owners are mentally incompetent. They probably cannot vote whenever elections come around."

There. I gave you the sentiment of 95% the 3rd party developers and publishers in terms of how they view the Wii. Good day.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

and its sick to think that your actually correct in that statement buddy.

IGN are full of s*** don't trust them. They, like many others in the gaming media are puppets of the industry. IGN reviews(like many others) have never been about being a service to the consumer as it should be. As a very recent example of this check out the review of modern warfare 2 for PC...it was given the "standard" 9.5 (press average above the 9's) whereas the reader review average is under the 2's. The reason for this we all know so i won't waste mine and your time explaining it. Bottom line is, don't trust them, trust your own judgment and your fellow gamers.

Controls in this game are near perfect. Best controls ever for a console shooter, definitely.

No offense, but this is a bunch of crap. The reason why most MW2 PC reader reviews are in the 2's is the mass petition and bots aimed at reducing every single meta score on the internet right now. IGN reviewed the game without the intent of sabotaging IW's sales of the PC version. They liked the game. It's not surprising; a lot of people like the game. Just because you, in your two days worth of obvious time and diligence of playing the game, seemingly didn't like it, doesn't mean that its flat out terrible and that anyone whom disagrees with you has been bought out. The PC gaming community is butt hurt that a publisher is trying something new. It's sad to say but people like you are ruining the PC market. If you honestly think that staving off maybe 200-250k sales is going to hurt a company that plans on selling 10+ million copies of the game lifetime on console units, you are sadly mistaken. It's also probably hard for IW to distinguish whom was actually going to buy the game on the PC and whom was going to pirate it anyway.

And before you say I am biased against PC gamers, I am not. I enjoy my PC games just as much as anyone. I just recognize the difference between a straw man and a legitimate argument.

Usually I agree with a lot of what IGN says, Bozon however didn't like the controls of W@W, and in turn he doesn't like the controls in MWR. The CoD controls are a lot more, for the lack of a better word, twitchy. As to say if you move the screen moves, you've got to have a hell of a steady hand (at least on my settings) and as such trying to be dead on for some gamers can be hard, thats the reason they love The Conduits controls and MoH Heroes 2, both games have high amount of options but its all a bit looser than CoD.

Essentially what I'm saying he hates the controls cause he sucks with the set up. It happens, he can turn it down some but will probably never be loose enough to his liking. Honestly I love both set ups but I'm better with the CoD set up, and MWR perfects what W@W started, period.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

I'm really enjoying the game, primarily for the great controls.

+1 - I like your rant subzero, it pretty much sums up all of my problems with the Wii. I really want to like a game on the Wii, and I was hoping this one would be it. I think I may break down and finally get Gamefly for games like this, as I just can't afford to buy them all.

You say im full of crap, i say ign are full of crap....you say PC gamers are full of crap, i say the gaming industry if full of crap, you don't believe the petitioners are genuine, i believe they are and they have my solidarity , so whats the problem?

The only problem i see here is that you automatically assumed that im a so called hardcore PC gamer and therefore i must be pirating games and on top of that you assume that people like me ruined the PC market ?! hahahahahahaha  you assume too much man...a word of advice; assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.

Ohhhhh and ign are full of crap....
