Forums - Nintendo - IGN's Retarded Modern Warfare Wii Preview

Am I the only Wii owner who is sick and tired of the way game journalists treat our system? It's been pissing me off for a long time, but today I found the straw that broke the camel's back. I present to you IGN's preview of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition.

http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/104/1044159p1.html

First of all we get an apology that the review of the game isn't already up. Apparantly it's because there were no early review copies.

So why not? Well we know that Infinity Ward is pissed off this game even got made. They recently made those comments about the reason they don't want Wii versions is because it won't offer the same 'experience' (yet apparantly DS versions are OK.) Then Activision do zero promotion for the game, in fact if you look at the only four offical screenshots before the game release they UN-promoted the game.

There is a story there. But we likely won't ever hear what it is. GOD FORBID WE COULD EXPECT GAME JOURNALISTS DO ANY ACTUAL JOURNALISM.

Then in the next paragraph we are told that multiple console owners should just go buy the 360 or PS3 version instead.

I am so fed up with that stupid attitude. Has it really still not dawned on these idiots that the reason why people buy a Wii is becuase they value the control over HD graphics? I'm not going to buy an FPS for a console with dual analogue controls because I DON'T LIKE THEM. If other people prefer the 360 or PS3, fine. I have no problem with that. I fact I can understand the appeal of HD graphics and a controller they have probably been using for years and have grown to love. It's their choice and I don't run around telling them that they are idiots and they should play the Wii instead. So how about we get reviewers who understand the Wii's appeal and write reviews from that viewpoint? Is that really too much to ask?

Then Mark Bozo the Clown goes on to say the game's framerate and controls ruin the game. Strange, becuase I've had the EXACT OPPOSITE experience with the copy I bought yesterday. Solid framerate, great controls. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, Mark had a chip on his shoulder about a Wii version of what is regarded a HD console classic before he even played it? I don't know for sure, all I know is that he advises people to go buy Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 instead.

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2.

I am still angry that I bought MoHH based on the IGN review. The game was crap.

So apparantly the full review is coming soon. I don't think I'll bother reading it.

It is getting old. The comments below the article seem to say that same thing about the frame rate and the controls. Most people in there are saying what you are saying, the controls are better than MOHH and the frame rate was not an issue at all. By the way, is there an option to turn off the cursing in this game?

My suggestion would be to learn to play on dual analogs to experience the game how it was intended to be experienced in the first place.... High quality HD graphics with solid framerates.

My suggestion is you go buy a Wii and start playing Mario Strikers and learn to enjoy it. No? Well then please don't make similar suggestions yourself, there are people who would rather play FPS with a Wii remote (or a PC mouse) and are not interested in "learning" to use what they consider awkward controls.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

@fonz: lol

on topic: There is nothing we can do about it, the Wii is just unpopular and seems to be getting bashed from all fronts, recently more than ever. I accepted that we will never be treated equally a long time ago. You should too.

I haven't even read the article, but do they really recommend that you go out and buy MMHH? that is sickening. That game was the biggest piece of overrated crap I've ever played, and the graphics were N64 level.

Bozon got hammered in the user comments, seems the vast majority on there disagree with him about the framerate and controls

Also i think comparisons of this game's graphics with the original are particularly pointless. The vast majority of people looking to play this are going to be people who don't have a HD system and/or didn't play the original. If the graphics are to be compared it should be to The Conduit, WAW or other similarly styled shooters.

Welcome to 2006?

They did a "GREAT" job on porting MW.  Its is the Wiis' "BEST" FPS as of its release.  Please stop comparing it to you 2nd and last place selling HD systems.  I played on my 360 and enjoyed it.  Now Im playing on my Wii and guess what?  I'm enjoying the Unique controls..  and its still "FUN!!"  To all Wii owners who like FPS, MW is the one to play/have in your system. Great job Activition.

Another home-run for IGN, it seems

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I've been saying this for a long time, and I just don't trust reviews anymore : No Wii reviewer out there who actually "get" the Wii and the philosophy behind it. They're all pretendous snobs who cannot capture the Wii appeal.

I have enjoyed MKWii more than any other game ever (maybe second to Starcraft), and it really is a stellar game, yet it got pounded by these "professionals". They don't even like they system any more. If they could just over to the 360 and PS3 teams they'd do it. How sad...
