I think we can agree that rail shooters are cheaper to make than FPSes.

If the repsective games are similar, but that means less costly, not cheap.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

the first step they should do is
READ THEIR OWN DAMN FORUM BOARDS AND SEE WHAT THE Wii GAMER WANTS.

Wii games only cost $5 and a Unicorn fart to produce, as stated by MontanaHatchet at one time or another...or at least he used that phrase to describe how for some reason, every Wii game has turned a profit (as proclaimed by Wii fans)

They have a few ~1m sellers on the Wii, I'm not sure they have much to complain about except their own efforts.
Grand Slam Tennis sold 410k so far, I think that's decent sales for a good effort from EA...
Dead Space Extraction is not selling well, but it was always a risk to launch one more on-rail shooter on a platform which already has several good ones with more brand name (at least RE:UC and House of the Dead).
Any other games they might be complaining about?

Where does it say it was cheap to make? Seriously, where? |
In all honesty, I don't know anything about Dead Space Extraction, but every other EA game I've looked into in the last few years has been either 1) A low budget disaster or 2) A game that 'looks' high quality but has serious flaws once you play it.
A good example is The Simpsons Game. Hyped by EA before, during and AFTER release, the game looked to be just what they were hyping it up to be, the 'ultimate Simpsons game'. What did we get instead? A multi-platform, 'high budget' disaster that looked like it belonged in the early days of the PS2 and played like it belonged on the early N64. It was apparent that the game had a massive scope and tried to be the 'biggest Simpsons game ever'. But in practice, the game suffered from multiple changes in its deadline and a skeleton screw for its scope (the game had more people working on porting the titles than actually developing its core engine). EA tried to offset this by just throwing more money into the project, but obviously the finished product speaks for itself.
The Simpsons Game is a good example of how making games at EA is a struggle to put it mildly. And their practice of throwing more money and employees at projects is one of the worst structures in the industry. And now that they're firing many of their employees...how are they going to keep making their games? Throwing MORE money at every game? Oh wait...the money is gone too....
Looking at their financial report, this is the distribution of revenue for each of the three consoles in the last quarter:
Xbox 360: $171 million (41% down YoY)
Wii: $142 million (51% up YoY)
PS3: $142 million (18% up YoY)
So they better not be kidding when they say "not out"... I doubt they're spending more (or significantly more) on Wii development than PS3/360 development, and revenue is very similar to the other consoles (and a lot up from last year).

I guess they're not happy at all with the Boom Blox sequel, but hey, they are the ones to blame: too much of the same, too soon, with no advertising and an ugly box art? Guess what happens? I like the game (to play with my kids), but i'm glad i got it very cheap (20 euros)...
They should have waited, and released an awesome WM+ sequel with more original ideas: then it could have made an impact... and i mean c'mon, they weren't even able to capitalize on the fact it's a Spielberg inspired game, even with the first one: how lame is that?
But anyway, EA has never been that creative, and i usually never buy anything from them: Tiger Woods with WM+ seems to have nice controls, but i won't pay the full price as it looks just as ugly as the older versions i've rented in the past...
And then there's Dead Space Extraction... but HotD is enough for me (got it in 2nd hand, btw), and i now wait for Sin & Punishment 2: i don't need more on-rails experiences... i'll rent it, maybe, but pay 50 euros, or even 20 euros? No, thanks...
What's left? That's the problem: nothing... so they can say whatever they want: bring the games first, and then we'll talk...

"A beautiful drawing in 480i will stay beautiful forever...
and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."
Frankly speaking, I will start buying their games when they give us multiplatform games which matter. Why the Wii hasn't gotten any of the Fight Night games is beyond me. I remember playing Knockout Kings on my GC some years back and it was a hit in my house. A real boxing sim is always welcome. Thats the kind of effort we want. Not spin offs of their franchises and putting some Wii label on it
