Forums - Nintendo - Why Aren't There Reviews For Modern Warfare?

why embargoing a review of a game that has been released two years ago? The Wii version does not have any additions, so it's the same game.

.... I just don't get it

There is an element of marketing in all this withholding of info. I know I will be able to read a review in the next ONM (in about a week or less - official magazine releases on 20th November)

I'm buying it tonight though.

Reveiws dock points for time.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Given the near-total media blackout on this game, I would guess that Activision hasn't actually put out any review copies and reviewers are going to have to line up to get one of the three copies of the that their local GameStop ordered for release day.

Because they have to play through the whole game which could take a few days then review it

Activision figures that if there are no reviews out there which could potentially sully the good name earned by Modern Warfare at it's initial release, then people will get sick of waiting for said reviews and just buy it out of impatience.

True, but you do realize that not every embargoed game gets mediocre scores?

EDIT: Are there even Modern Warfare 2 reviews up now on the popular sites? I wouldn't worry too much.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

World at War also did not have reviews before release and look how that turned out..... oh wait.

Right now Activision would be mainly focused on marketing and promoting Modern Warfare 2 not a 2 yr old port of the 1st MW.

Not quite sure what you mean there.

I meant time as in being an older game.
