Forums - Gaming - FF13 American sales PS3 vs Xbox 360

Fighting game tourneys? Seriously? What does that have to do with sales, or even popularity?

Okay. Explain to me, then, why Tekken 6 is selling so poorly in NA. Do you think it's going to outsell Soul Calibur IV?

I don't see how bringing up past sales helps your argument. Since the Crash Bandicoot series has sold more here than Tekken, can I claim it is the more popular series?

Yeah I know! Baby seals whatever.

This is the US Amazon btw.

Where is the 360 version? Answer: It didn't chart.

Rhythm freaking Heaven of all games is #15 on Amazon. What does that prove? Rhythm Heaven is not in the top 15 sales-wise in NPD or vgchartz stats. You can't use Amazon's hourly best sellers as a basis for measuring game popularity in the US.

though I may get called out on this, but PS3 sales of Final Fantasy XIII will be like the Xbox 360's sales of Modern Warfare 2(not exact numbers though) meaning that the PS3 sales of FFXIII will be huge, but the 360 version will sell decently.

though probably the PS3 fanboy inside of me would like to see the 360 version sink, so Square-Enix can see their mistakes and see how big their fanbase is, and send a message to Microsoft on stop trying to make everything multi-plat.

IIRC according to this weeks preorder charts the PS3 version has about an 8k lead on the 360 version. Next week I wouldn't be surprised to see a significant rise so we'll probably know where the momentum will go after that.

edit: Just checked, it's actually a 6k advantage. 20k for PS3 and 14k for 360.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

it's becaues Rhythm Heaven was in today's Lightning Deal (10:00 am) for $14.95.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Hope for ms sake that it will sell something considering the massive amount they payed Square for having the game on xbox.

How much did they pay?

I want to know as well. Last I checked, SE scrapped the White Engine and the exclusivity of FFXIII because they wanted to double their profits by using the 360 as a cheap and quicker way to make extra profit.

Not to be a smart ass, but wasn't the White Engine just a code-name for Crystal Tools?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

If thats the engine they were using for the exclusive FFXIII, then yes.

Its my understanding that Crystal Tools was a Multiplat engine from the get-go. They also wanted to use the same engine to develop their games for The Wii and 360, even before the multiplat announcement. Im pretty sure that if the Last Remnant came out this year, it would have used Crystal Tools instead of the UE3
