That's exactly the way I'd rank them. I don't even know why 2 is that hard but it just is.

I'm getting impatient waiting for this. And now there's going to be gameplay vids all over the place. Must not be spoiled.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I disagree.

Lost Levels
SMB 3
SMW
SMB
SMB 2

Lost Levels is by far the hardest game, the next three are close and SMB 2 is definitely the easiest one, because with Peach you don't have to be really good at platforming and you can also have up to four hearts of energy. I wonder how you have played that game to call it the second hardest one out of those five (Toad only?).

I just figured SMB2 would be harder for noobs than the rest of the games, because it doesn't have Yoshi, flying, or even fireballs.  Even with Peach, there are tons of Snifits shooting bullets at you, and many people can't handle outrunning Phantos.  Also, it seems fewer people know where the warps are in that game, so they end up going through all the hardest levels until they give up, especially in the slippery ice levels or the quicksand levels.  It also has the hardest bosses, where you actually have to catch things in mid-air.  All the other Mario boss battles are just dodging things and jumping on their heads.

For the record, I roll mostly as Luigi and Peach, but yes I've done it Toad only, and it was awesome.

Not to mention not knowing where to throw the potions to find the mushrooms... or even know the potions create warps.

It's the easiest to beat once you've mastered it... but if your starting out fresh.  It can be a lot more challengeing.

I actually found SMB3 the easiest of all those games.  Fun story.  I went to the Nintendo videogame competition where they were demoing SMB3... and I finished the entire first world without dieing.

Usually they went by dies... but I got through the first level airship and all, so they either turned me off, or thats as far as the demo went.

Also i'd say while Princess is the best beginner character.

Luigi is the best "Pro" character. His extra high jumps just let you skip so much hassle by skipping entire sections by just super jumping to the next level etc.

This game is so awesome it's not even funny.
And the best part was that i was never even hyped for it, as i've never played a 2D Mario for more than an hour so the waiting wasn't hard! :P

Theres a feature interview of Miyamoto talking about this game on Nintendo Channel, he said that NSMBW's difficulty falls somewhere between Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. I have no clue what that means however.

^ It will be fairly easy, but more difficult than the DS game. That's the way I see it at least. Which is fine by me. Anything more challenging than NSMB is welcomed.

I finished it last night, it is seemed easier than SMB3 but harder than SMW. But that is without getting all the coins, secret exits etc. It's a great game, it will not disappoint.
