The DS for me I love that little duel screen pleasure machine

People can make a big list of games for a simple w580... and still, it's only a cellphone.

I talked about the Ipod (and not the n-gage) because everyone was talking about the Ipod. I HAVE an Ipod touch and a n95, both are smartphones in my opinion, but you can have your opinion, I won't say that you are wrong. For me, "gaming  handheld" is a handheld more focused on games, not a smartphone/cellphone that has a big list of games. 

I suppose if there were a DS phone and A PSPhone they wouldn't be considered handhelds either, right? Let's just ignore all of the game they can play though..

I disagree. While the Iphone/Itouch leaves a lot to be desired when compared to a dedicated portable gaming device like the PSP or the DS, there are many wildly fun games to be found on it. I think it's a pretty good gaming device... just lacking compared to other popular alternatives.

geoDefense, Rolando 1/2, Star Defense, Real Racing, Knights Onrush and Reign of Swords are just a few off the top of my head that are quite good and are also fairly varied in genre.

Anyhow, my vote goes to the DS. Games like Professor Layton, Elite Beat Agents, New Super Mario Bros and especially Final Fantasy IV DS give it the edge over the PSP for me. It's extremely comfortable to play as well.

Edit: The only three I've ever owned are the DS, PSP and the Iphone.

I will give it to the Gameboy Colour. I feel like I could still play Pokemon Crystal and Link's Awakening DX for hours on end.

Yeah, you're right and now it makes sense. If the Ipod can play games, it can be my favorite handlheld system to play games and if it was the case I would be upset if I couldn't see the Ipod here to vote.

Hmm... tough call. I guess I'll have to go with the DS, partially for the sheer number of amazing RPGs for it, and the ability it had with pulling me back into gaming. If it weren't for the DS, I'd probably not be here today, which is why I think I have to vote for it. The original Game Boy would come in second for introducing me to portable gaming.

My old Nokia phoe plays games. Bounce is awesome.

Why isn't that on the list? Perhaps the iPhone deserves to be on there, it's had quite a few games made for it. But the Zune?

Is ipod touch a phone though? No.  Saying iPhone doesn't count just because it has phone capabilities is just foolishness. Also it is obvious the games found in this thread http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=89891&page=1 have more complexity than snake so all that you are really doing is just trying to be a smartass.

EDIT: Truth be told I think you decided it was not a real handheld because of the distribution model, which is not fair considering the DS and psp both have their own digital distribution portals (with the psp GO! wholely utilizing this) so I really don't see where you can get off saying this..
