Yes it was unthinkable it would do better than xbox

but it was also unthinkable that it would get a Star Ocean, Tales of, S-E game & a Sakaguchi game exclusive/timed exclusive

taking that into account, I think MS concentrated too much on Japan, that concentration may have been better spent on EUrope

MS needs a handheld if it ever wants to gain traction in Japan

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

yeah S-E would never put a final fantasy or a Dragon quest on a system that hadn't sold over 1 million

remember FF13 went into dev when people thought PS3 would be the winner

DQX went into dev when Wii was destroying competition in Japan

since then things have changed:

1. PS3 isn't the clear winner at all

2. Wii isn't destroying, but loosing to PS3 in Japan weekly now

To add to what I said, why would Microsoft "let" FFXIII be exclusive to PS3 in Japan? Do you really think they're ok with the FFXIII PS3 exclusivity in Japan, not to mention the bundle?

We'll need to wait an see what happens in Japan once NSMB Wii launches, it did great on the DS, and this was back when the DS lite was having shortages in japan
