The Amazon lightning deal wouldn't account for more than a few hundred units IMO. The lightning deals on Amazon are usually for clearing stock. I doubt Amazon was carrying tens of thousands XBox Arcade in their inventory.

First good answer in this thread. Also note that people that were thinking about buying a unit for christmas will simple move the date forward a month. So many of the sales now simple won't show up in the Xmas period. Probably gives a nice bump for MS to brag about, but the net result is that somebody (either MS or Walmart) is losing a lot of money on this deal (the manufacturing costs are probably around $220 for an arcade model). Good for those who can grab a unit now, bad store policy Imho.

Now we can wait for Sony to match this deal.

@drkholer that's not really the way consumption and spending work when doing a High end loss leader. The concept is to get people to spend money they weren't going to spend, and it works. Peole don't move their purchase up, they purchase something they were never going to buy. The concept of a $99 console may or may not work but it's important to understand the concept.

You can add my data to the OP. I was going to do my own thread but I was too busy buying 360's and researching to get on here.

My data:
I went to 5 stores this morning. The number of Xbox 360's per store was 16, 18, 20, 15, and 20. I was also informed that this deal will last until Friday, November 13th. All the other deals end today, but with the 360 + Gift Card deal, that will last all week until the 13th. Every store I went to was sold out of all their 360 Arcades by 9:45 AM this morning. I was told that more shipments were coming in today at 4:00 PM.

So, depending on the number of shipments gets made this week, and the word of mouth that this deal does go all week, this could potentially put the 360 up even higher than your prediction. I have a feeling the average for today was only ~20 per store, but once you factor that in with at least 2 or 3 more shipments this week, that's at least 210,000 sales this week in the US alone for the 360. That would give it around 290-300k for the week worldwide. So with another shipment coming in today at 4:00PM already, you can probably expect 4 or 5 shipments this week.

I have a feeling you will be very very wrong.  Based on my anecdotal research and information, and personal experiences, I would say the boost for this week (ending today) and the boost for next week combined will be about 130-150k+.

As far as impulse buy, there were at least 5 people in lines today that I saw who were just there for a laptop or TV, but changed their minds and bought a 360 as well while they were at the counter.  That'd be an impulse buy

Oh I have no doubt it will do gangbusters.  I was surprised to see lines of 20+ people for 360's this morning.  I was able to snag 2 myself (one for my brother and one for my rents) and get 2 - $100 gift cards

on a side note, I went to 10 Mcdonalds this morning and 75% of the people in front of me in each ordered a coffee, I don't know how many Mcdonalds there are in the world but that's a shit load of coffee
