Really? That's funny... they still cost $199, so there is no way you could have bought them for $100.... And the Elite has never cost $200.... Somebody likes telling stories, I see.... |
Sounds like somebody's jealous =P

How can one be jealous of fictional stories?

Haha I JUST did this. I bought it for 110 (100 plus 10 tax) and have it up on ebay for 170 buy it now. Going to get a few of these going. I did the same thing with a 200 dollar deal on an Elite a while back (sold it for 280 and pocketed the difference). I did the same thing with the Wii Fit back when it was a big deal at launch, its a nice supplemental income really. 60 bucks for 20-30 minutes of shopping is not bad at all.

What a liar. You would have to buy it for $199 plus tax.
| Impulsivity said: Wow with the hundred dollars you save you could buy a wireless adapter to almost bring it up to being a PS3 or Wii! Unfortunately you'd also need a hard drive bigger then the joke of a HD the arcade comes with which tacks on another 150 for the 120GB hard drive making your "99 dollar 360" suddenly baloon up to 350 (which is what the PS3 costs with a 250GB hard drive plus blu ray and all the rest). Oh don't forget another 50 for online play this year which takes it to 400 bucks! Even at 99 dollars its not really a good deal until basics like wireless and online play come free as they should. It's like buying windows 7 "starter" on a netbook only to find that you can't use more then 2GBs of RAM or even change the background without ponying up over a hundred bucks for a different Windows 7. Low entry price then nickel and dimeing you into the poor house, thats the Microsoft way (there's a reason Microsoft and Microtransaction have the same base prefix) Next year I bet they rebrand their company name to Microtransactionsoft. I bet the PS3 still is number 1 worldwide even with this. The 360 is getting gamecubed lately. |
And to think I have been playing a launch 360 on Live without the Wireless adapter. I had no idea I had to buy that thing.

I guess you could buy a 30 dollar router and a 10 dollar ethernet cable instead providing you have your cable modem right where you have your 360. If, like me, you have two rooms with a TV and more space in the room that doesn't have the cable modem things look pretty ghetto pretty fast trying to run ethernet across the entire house.
Sersiouly though, on what planet does a wifi adapter cost 100 dollars? There are a dozen PC adapters both cards and USB that cost 1/5th that. Same thing with the 150 dollar 120GB hard drive. How in the world does MS still charge over a dollar per GB when there are 1.5TB drives for under 100 bucks all the time (or less then 10 cents per GB).
I don't know, I guess some people don't mind getting ripped off. Some actually seem to defend getting ripped off as a virtue (unlike the wasteful Wii and PS3 they don't include anything I don't absolutely need! I appreciate that!). Some people appreciate spending 300 dollars for a full featured windows 7 instead of 29 bucks for an equally full featured OSX 10.6.
I have no problem with expensive as long as theres added value. I'll pay 100 bucks for a 1.5 TB drive instead of 60 for a 500GB drive because theres more value in the 1.5 TB or Ill pay 30 bucks for the N wireless adapter instead of 20 bucks for the a/b/g wireless adapter because I appreciate the bump in speed. What makes no sense and annoys me is when you pay through the nose for no added value like the proprietary system the 360 has going.
It's like the 360 economy is located in some airport terminal or something where everything costs 5 times more then it should. Thats why I don't fly the 360 skies anymore, I appreciate not having to buy anything other then the initial Console on Sony Air.
How it connects to this is the overall point that cheap does not equal good value. I still have my launch 60GB PS3 and it works great (well its a 500GB PS3 now for only 80 bucks on a 3rd party hard drive), how many can say that about their 100 dollar cheaper launch 360? If it was just about cheap we'd all drive Kia Rios.
PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me
how long does this deal last?
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st ![]()
^^^Wow... does no moderator care anymore? This guy is clearly earning himself one... (Impulsivity, not Serius)
Oh and OS X 10.6 costs over $100. And you have to buy every iteration of OS X... they've been on OS X ("ten") for years now and each service pack they release they charge you $100 to upgrade.... That's like once every year or two while on the PC you don't upgrade more than once every 3 to 5 years.

You are looking at a launch 360 owner here. No added accessories except for another controller. And Live. But I sure as hell don't mind paying $3 a month to play some Halo 3(and many others).
And to use OSX 10.6 you have already paid the Apple tax in some form or another. And why are you only using the price of upgrading?

You prefer the PS3 to the 360, got it. But your logic is all over the place...one paragraph you say the 360 charges for everything and is pricey, next you say it's cheap and it's not just about being cheap...
Why don't we leave it at the fact that you personally prefer the PS3, and stop trying to convince people why your decision, was RIGHT?
Easy enough.
On topic, this sale combined with MW2 release should drive 360 sales at Walmart through the roof.
If 360 doesnt beat out PS3 for next week than it will be a huge embarrassment.
