I guess you could buy a 30 dollar router and a 10 dollar ethernet cable instead providing you have your cable modem right where you have your 360. If, like me, you have two rooms with a TV and more space in the room that doesn't have the cable modem things look pretty ghetto pretty fast trying to run ethernet across the entire house. Sersiouly though, on what planet does a wifi adapter cost 100 dollars? There are a dozen PC adapters both cards and USB that cost 1/5th that. Same thing with the 150 dollar 120GB hard drive. How in the world does MS still charge over a dollar per GB when there are 1.5TB drives for under 100 bucks all the time (or less then 10 cents per GB). I don't know, I guess some people don't mind getting ripped off. Some actually seem to defend getting ripped off as a virtue (unlike the wasteful Wii and PS3 they don't include anything I don't absolutely need! I appreciate that!). Some people appreciate spending 300 dollars for a full featured windows 7 instead of 29 bucks for an equally full featured OSX 10.6. I have no problem with expensive as long as theres added value. I'll pay 100 bucks for a 1.5 TB drive instead of 60 for a 500GB drive because theres more value in the 1.5 TB or Ill pay 30 bucks for the N wireless adapter instead of 20 bucks for the a/b/g wireless adapter because I appreciate the bump in speed. What makes no sense and annoys me is when you pay through the nose for no added value like the proprietary system the 360 has going. It's like the 360 economy is located in some airport terminal or something where everything costs 5 times more then it should. Thats why I don't fly the 360 skies anymore, I appreciate not having to buy anything other then the initial Console on Sony Air. How it connects to this is the overall point that cheap does not equal good value. I still have my launch 60GB PS3 and it works great (well its a 500GB PS3 now for only 80 bucks on a 3rd party hard drive), how many can say that about their 100 dollar cheaper launch 360? If it was just about cheap we'd all drive Kia Rios. |
You are looking at a launch 360 owner here. No added accessories except for another controller. And Live. But I sure as hell don't mind paying $3 a month to play some Halo 3(and many others).
And to use OSX 10.6 you have already paid the Apple tax in some form or another. And why are you only using the price of upgrading?
