Forums - Gaming - Am I the only one who likes GTA4 more than any other GTA game?

inb4 like 50 replies saying nothing but "Yes."

Honestly, though, I think that GTA4 is a fantastic game and I love it way more than any other GTA-game. For the record, besides GTA4, I have played GTA1, GTA2, GTA3, GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Chinatown Wars.

I absolutely loved playing GTA3 when it was new (though I never owned it personally) because it was so exciting seeing the GTA-world in 3D, and overall it was a really grand game that's hard (atleast for me) to speak ill of. Just a really great game.

By the time San Andreas came around, I was pretty excited because a few of my friends were hyping it to no end, and by the time I got my hands on it, I just felt like it was more of a hassle than fun. All the micromanagement really annoyed me, and while it did have some really great moments, it just felt a bit overambitious and didn't go well with me. Then GTA4 was on it's way, and it was getting hyped a lot, and I thought it looked pretty cool. I decided to pick it up at release, but I couldn't get into it right away because I had so much stuff to do in school, and after I had done all my work and taken ample time to just cool off from school, I picked up GTA4 properly around August last year.

I played through the entire game and 100%ed the entire single player mode, and had a blast doing it. This was what I had missed in San Andreas. Suddenly it felt as awesome as GTA3 had done to me back in the day, just with more features and more fun stuff to do. Granted, some stuff in GTA4 was really annoying too, a few frustrating missions, friends getting pissed at you for not rushing to their side in the middle of a mission and stuff like that, but overall I felt it was forgivable because the game itself just had so much great stuff in it.

Now I know most people love San Andreas and hate GTA4, so I'm guessing that I'm in the incredibly tiny minority here, but I decided to make this thread just to see what kind of responses I would get. So, please, share your opinions of GTA4 and the GTA-series in general.

The only one?...certainly not.

In the minority...probably?

no i think GTA IV is great best GTA game after vice city. vice city had buying houses tanks etc but now with the new dlc the ballad of gay tony i think they add all that stuff so i think GTA IV is better.

To be honest i think the whole GTA series is wearing abit thin... the formula was fun with GTA1 & 2... when GTA3 came out in 3D it was ground breaking, and the whole concept of go anywhere do anything was so new and so much fun. But Vice City was just more of the same.. and so was San Andrea's.. for that matter so was GTA4. I think the series needs to come up with something ground breaking again.. if they release another gta that is just the same as their recent games i think we are going to see sales decline.

On a side note i think GTA games in recent years have been majorly over hyped. And they attract an audience that usually wouldnt play video games because they hear about it and how you can have sex with hookers, or blow people up in the street, or run them over. When people play GTA they care far more about these things than the story, i actually don't know of many people at all that bother finishing GTA games.

Nope, look at all the reviewers that loved it.

sadly you are not.

Personally i hated GTA4, it wasnt a real GTA game, and it defo wasnt up to this gen standards

GTA Vice City was the peak of the series.

It was right before they started taking it too seriously.

I was gonna reply Yes.. But then I read your first line :(

My favorate is GTA 3. Probably because it felt so fresh and I never really liked GTA1 or 2.

Check out my game about moles ^

I loved GTA Vice City much for its atmosphere.

GTA IV sometimes comes close, and it has RICKY GERVAIS!

But there still is a lot to frustrate the player in GTA IV. Especially in the beginning.
