Forums - Nintendo - Why is a high-def Wii needed?

to be honest Nintendo made a huge mistake not making the Wii HD.

If they did it for the Wii's orig release then the would be no such thing as a HD war and the Wii would be sitting on sales that would make the DS look average.

And i really believe that. It would have had the hardcore and casuals. batman AA, Assassins Creed, Final Fantasy 13, Tekken 6 and other big 3rd party games aswell as Nintendo's first party all on the little white box.

It would have been killer

This is Wrong kinda...Wii limitations is A problem but not its biggest problem..if anything its minor

I dont care if its HD or not ... the fact that the wii motion is absolutely crap is what makes me mad, even with the wii motion plus, it isnt accurate at all and cant detect fast movement ... wii doesnt have to be hd, just make the damn wii mote work as advertised!

Nintendo fans are in denial .... btw, the ps3 motion thing is absolute crap too ... but atleast they admit it ......

no it isn't. It's probably the main reason why some 3rd parties dont put their games on the wii. See if the Wii was HD more hardcore people will buy it because more 3rd party people support it.

i think i'm right think about it. The wii with the motion controller and HD graphics being released back in 2006.

The reason the wii doesnt get 3rd party support is because it isnt HD. also most core games dont sell on it anyway. But just think of it like this

Motion controller= Grab all the casuals

HD graphics= Getting the attention of the core gamer. the wii would have had HD ports from the 360 like the PS3 did. games supporting the traditional controller type.

Nintendo games= Need i say more.

Honestly think about it would people really need the HD consoles if wii was HD when it released?

still disagree...3rd party developers lack of real commitment to Wii developerment stems primarily the fact they have no idea how to strike to gold or strike gold consistently. If 3rd party games sold well consistently on Wii...I doubt the Wii limitations or lack HD would play any role in there decisions to make especially with a fanbase closin in 60mil

you are missing the point i am trying to make kid.

The Wii would have had the fanbase the PS360 has. plus the casuals aswell so the games would have sold well. OK let me put it this way would the PS3 and 360 be selling now if they had the same graphics as the Wii?

Remember though the first batch of PS3 games went selling. but they still made the 360 ports like they would have done with the Wii had it been HD.

Alright why do we need a WiiHD?

Right now walk into any technology store (FutureShop/BestBuy...etc...etc..) and try to find a normal TV under 720p resolution. I bet you won't be able to find one, why because HDTV is now the standard and most retailers won't even carry standard definition TV's anymore. Sure you can still find standard TV's for sale at your local Walmart/RealCanadianSuperStore. But HDTV's are the new standard.

To help prove this look at your local BestBuy/FutureShop and see how many BluRay's are for sale opposed to DVD. Right now my BestBuy is probubly about 60% BluRay and 40% DVD. I noticed the BluRay selection in many stores are beginning to rise and DVD is starting to get phased out. HD media formats are beginning to control the digital media format market.

Hardcore gamers wanting HD and not casual. I find it pretty funny to say that only hardcore want HD. The hardcore demographic isn't the only demographic for HD. I'm sure millions of casual gamers own HDTV's. The only differance is casual gamers probubly don't realize that the Wii is such poor resolution. Casual gamers don't educate themselves about the console wars and probubly don't realize the disadvantage they face to have Wii over PS3 (From an HD standpoint).

Then the part about the hardcore liking the release of the Wand and Natal and probubly not picking up a WiiHD anyways. I'm a hardcore gamer and I still play and own a Wii. I would pick up a new WiiHD anyday when compared to NextBox or PS4. So your theories are a bit warped!

well my new TV would love it, it's painful to play anything not over 720p in it.

Oh, so I guess it's going to be a pain playing Modern Warfare 2 since that isn't 720p

yes =). i am not that crap.

"OK let me put it this way would the PS3 and 360 be selling now if they had the same graphics as the Wii?" -------------- actually yes..considering nobody would kno wat todays PS360 games would look like so wat they have to compare it too?

How relevant is Tekken 6 at this point in time?  Is it even going to get in striking distance of Smash Bros on the Wii saleswise?
