Forums - Gaming - Valve: 360 community "HEAD AND SHOULDERS above PS3"

I dont understand why valve would say such a thing about the PS3
Oh wait..
It legitimizes there position on not supporting PS3 development

With that said; head and shoulders above is very incorrect.
XBL is marginally better than PSN.
When you play COD online on the PSN, there are no problems, game invites and in game chat systems work fine. Not as well as XBL, but they suffice.

The same systems of friends, invites, and chat exist on both networks.
a game like L4D, with its rich integration of teamwork and needing voice chat is absolutely possible on the PSN.

Not only talking about Newell, talking about everyone who bad mouths the opposition when they've had no experience with it.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Because, to say that that PSN doesn't have a good enough community aspects to fully enjoy a game L4D is just plain stupid.

When a game like KZ2 can provide a great online/community experience that is on par with any online game that I've played on the 360 that proves it right there.

This would be like Naughty Dog saying Uncharted 2 online wouldn't work well on XBL because of the community.

Even though, they haven't even attempted nor have any intentions of attempting.

Seems really stupid to make a comment like that to me.

Maybe so, but I was quoting you because I was refering to your comment, not his. If you find it better if I take a stance on the matter, then I think his original comment is wrong, and yours was just as ignorant. The PSN community isn't perfect, but it's good enough to wrap the Left 4 Dead package around, and you obviously don't need to develop a PS3 game to know what the community is like.

"Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek has said the 360 community is "head and shoulders above the PS3", and that's why the multiplayer-focused Left 4 Dead series isn't on Sony's console."

I thought it was because the PS3 is too hard to program for, VALVE can lick my big black.... ok, sounds like these people are running out of excuses, as to why they have become an old relic of the past, and why they cant keep up with modern technology.

Did they ever think that maybe some of the PS3 owners might be part of the PC/360 community because they can't play L4D on PS3. I know alot of PS3 owners who have gaming PC or 360. What a dumb comment.

OT Can anyone link me to what Gearbox said?

And I'm not just talking about you. However, have you seen one person that has berated Gabe Newell in this thread recall the fact that his last two interviews where he got questioned about the PS3, the answers were an apology letter to PS3 fans? Of course not. It's not convenient to the bitter bitching when we have 1-2 year old quotes we can use instead.

In fact, I'd like to see the wording of this question and Chet's full response to it before I pass judgment. These excerpts could very well be purposely sensationalistic since CVG decided to report on the second part of an interview that isn't even publicly available to read yet. Note how little of the excerpts are direct quotes and how much is interpreted from the acrticle writer?

What's wrong with saying "No comment" or "it doesn't concern us?" Instead of going on some tangent that says a lot more about you than everyone else.

There's nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying what Gabe Newell said in the past was smart, but it's not like he stood on a pedestal at a press conference and belted these quotes out, which is the impression I've gotten from many people in this thread. I've seen the words "PR", "going out of their way", etc. used.

In fact, people are still holding Gabe Newell to comments he made years ago, when his interviews in the last few months have been very nice and apologetic towards PS3 owners. But we'll remember what interviews we choose to remember right? Whichever give us the best advantage to remain bitter and angry?

That's just it.  No one has to hold Valve to past comments at all, because they keep coming up with new excuses and insults.

Your statement makes no sense, in that regard.  People are upset with Valve's negative comments, and senseless excuses, because they could just be keeping their mouths shut about it, like every other X360 exclusive developer does.  Worse than that, this recent comment can actually be perceived to target the PSN community, rather than PSN or Sony itself.  The actual users/potential consumers?

I'm sure the Valve guy meant "PSN service", but... he didn't actually explain anything about that comment.  He just "blamed PSN" and didn't give a good reason.  Not very constructive criticism, I'd have to say.

He's just criticizing.  He's not trying to be helpful, not trying to get anyone to change anything to make potential consumers happy (i.e. PS3 owners who want Valve games), etc.  He's just bashing.

Hence, the complaints.

He/Valve deserves every bit of it, until they start treating their potential consumers and business partners with some respect.
