Forums - Nintendo - Will Kingdom Hearts 3 be on the Wii

Its been a long time since Kingdom Hearts 2 came out and 2010 looks like it will be the year that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be announced.

Question is which console will it end up on. Previously Kingdom Hearts game have been on Playstation home consoles but given the playstation's fall in terms of market share With the Wii dominating the PS3 sales wise. The Wii also has a large portion of younger users which the Kingdom hearts series has appealed too.

So do you think Kingdom Hearts will be on the Wii.

I sure hope so.

maybe

It'll be Wii, or it won't happen this gen. I'm starting to think a BBS-style non-numbered entry from the "B(BS) team" is more likely now though, since the original KH team is seemingly eternally wrapped up in FFvsXIII on PS3 (and probably 360).

Epic Mickey's performance might be a good indicator. If that does amazing, it might be enough to force Nomura's hand. Plus SE could bank off quick KH1 and KH2 ports to get the Wii audience up to speed...

Depends on the sales of FFXIII for the PS3, and the final sales for the portable Kingdom Hearts games.

Kingdom Hearts is not a kids game!

Epic Mickey's performance may not be a good indicator. If that does not sell well, it might be enough to force Nomura's hand. Plus SE could bank off enhanced ports (HD resolution and 2x AA) KH1 and KH2 ports to get the PS3 audience up to speed...

Fixed it for ya

Im not saying it is a kids game rather it's an RPG that will appeal to kids more than other Square Enix games such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Square needs a game that appeals to (but not only) kids and since than amount of kids who play Wii outnumber those who play PS3 there's a good chance it will come to the Wii.

Why port KH1-2 when they could eventually sell them as downloads on PS3?  Ports would make sense for a Wii title (or a PSP title actually, which is also a possibility) but not a PS3 title.

I do think there's still a slim chance we'll see KH3 as an HD multiplatform title (PS3 exclusive is basically impossible at this point though), but if that happens you can expect it fall 2012 or later.  If it's a Wii and/or PSP game (why don't more 3rd parties invest in Wii/PSP as a "platform" similar to PC/360/PS3?), then 2011-2012.

Really though, Wii just has the best audience (family friendly, casual, nostalgic) for Disney games.

It's all-ages really, though so is DQ.  Which yeah, makes Wii the most attractive home sales wise.
