Why should Wii fans feel hopeless
At this point the Wii is burying the Ps3
So sales are down sony took their best shot at the Wii with a price cutand they are still being outsold.
It is all in the wqay you look at it.
| Ail said: one of the reason the PS2 did so well is that each time Sony dropped its price sales picked up... The Wii is going to have to demonstrate it can do the same thing.. |
Eh, the Wii has picked up after its price drop. It isn't selling at last year's levels, but it's doing far better than it was pre-cut.
The real problem is the lack of hardware movers. Since Nintendo is pretty much driving all the hardware with its own software (unlike the PS2, which thrived on its 3rd party support), when they have a huge gap in the major hitting lineup (over a year between MK Wii and WSR), things start to go bad.
I do wonder how they'll prevent from making this mistake again. Relying on being able to pump out evergreen titles as consistently as they want to can be a dangerous strategy, as they have no doubt learned this year. They seem to be betting the farm on the vitality sensor now (best of luck to em!).

Yep, big adjustments. Had to edit all of the numbers in my sig. Seems slim was doing even better than people thought (well, besides PS supporters who knew it was doing better all along). Slim sold 1.4 million more than 360 since September 1st, isn't that crazy?
Looks like sales are down 25% overall, damn.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
PS3 beat 360 in US sales again? Well, if it keeps doing it then the 360 lead is sure to disappear fast.
Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

WOW @leo-j LMAO @ you The Japanese reaction for the PSP GO was lukewarm, I expected PSP around 200K this week with a HUGE japanese boost It didn't match my expectations this week, hence bad, while 360 surpassed em this week by increasing by much more than I thought |
200k? IIRC, the PSP-3000's launch week was only 140k.
Honestly, Darth, just because your predictions are generally-speaking quite horrendously far off the money, doesn't mean that these PSP sales are bad. It's keeping up with 360 in Others, which isn't too shabby. Heck, it's outselling the 360 weekly. Granted the pspgo is very highly-priced and therefore isn't producing monster numbers, but let's not lose perspective.
@ Kowenicki: PS3 > 360 in NA again...

200K worldwide, I expected 80K in Japan
stop acting so condescending wholikeswood
Outselling 360 weekly is nothing big when it managed to do that for the majority of the time since 360 has launched, WOW pat on the back for PSP to be able to do something it has done for ages when it has a new model launched & a marketing push
Apologies, Darth, I misread your post.
But I'll stand by the comment about PSP outselling the 360. For a dying console, rife with piracy and lacking great software to a certain extent, to hold out like this is surprising.
I appreciate there's a new model, but it's price is astronomical...
I think that PSP Go was more a test object. Sony wanted to test the market acceptance for Downloading only. Thats the reason why PSP 3000 is marketed parallel with Psp Go.
