PS3 is doing relatively well, up YoY. The price cut + Slim seem to have had a lasting effect rather than just a small boost, and have done a lot more to push hardware than the late 2007 price cut + 40GB. 2009 > 2008 > 2007 in sales, which is a good sign.

X360 isn't doing fantastically, but of course a price cut could change all of that. Not for a while, though. And I doubt Natal will push much hardware.

PSP isn't doing too abysmally, but sales aren't great, either. Even with the quality software it's seeing now that didn't get in these amounts last year.

Look kantor, the DS may have peaked, but it ebtter have, the things been out AGES

If wii has peaked this early its a SHOCK, I am not willing to accept the market leader has peaked in the second year

nowadays ioi makes a NEWS STORY on the numbers, I posted them as soona s I saw the news story....the numbers he puts in the NEWS STORY are int he form of that table thats near the bottom of the OP

so I didn't post it before numbers were up

 

I suppose the DS should peak around here: the Game Boy/Colour sold for a good 12 years, and the DS should do the same. But a console usually peaks halfway through its lifespan, or slightly earlier.

The Wii, market leader or not, has peaked. It sold more in 2008 than in 2009 with a $50 price cut. It's not going to die soon, or anything silly like that, but sales will decrease from now on. The PS2 peaked relatively early as well, I suppose. It depends on how the Wii sells these next few years.

 

The DS peaked two years ago...

It sold 30 million+, then the next year it sold 30 million+, this year it is on track to sell 30 million+ again.

 

basically it rose, peaked, flat lined at its peak, and next year sales will start to slow down... maybe only 25 million next year.

I already beat it. And yes, I loved it. Gonna do a second playthrough eventually...though sooner rather than later.

take into account that the Wii may not be on track to out sell it's own peak year but it is still on track to out sell the PS2's peak year...

 

 

and we all know how the PS2 went on to sell(still selling)

 

 

fact of the matter is that even though the Wii is a victim of its own success, it is still outselling EVERY other console(past or present) except the DS....

Ps3 360 gap almost back to the start of Ps3's launch. One more week.

The gape is back to around 5 million?  Isn't that where it was when the PS3 launched?

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

It's almost a given at this point. When FF XIII hits in Japan on the week Dec 17th falls on I think it'll sell a million WW.

one of the reason the PS2 did so well  is that each time Sony dropped its price sales picked up...

The Wii is going to have to demonstrate it can do the same thing..
