Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Haha very entertaining. Once again I find I agree with him completely. The platforming was just way too dull in SPM. Oh well. It was still a solid game, if nothing groundbreaking. I really hope he reviews Zack & Wiki.

I definitely enjoyed the previous games more than SPM.

Bah, that sucked. I figured he was going to rip it a new one like most games he reviews. Was kinda soft handed compared to some of his other stuff.

Also he really missed a big example of prolonging the game's length. Minor Spoilers.

Super Paper Mario has a pit of a 100 trials, just like the last one. Unlike the last one, when you beat it unlocks ANOTHER pit of 100 Trials in the "dark world." And if that's not bad enough, when you get to the bottom of it all you get is an empty room where a voice says something like "hey not bad, if you can do that again, you might get something." So you go back and have to repeat the exact same 100 tedious damn rooms, just because. And it's exactly the same, and you'll have gained a lot of experience and coins on your first trek, so doesn't add any challenge it's just annoying. You do it a second time you finally get your boss fight and reward.

And there's more, there's also the 100 Samurai showdown. Which is fighting, one at a time, 100 hundred Samurai warrior weirdoes, almost all of which fight about the same. Each and everyone with their own idiotic opening.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Super Paper Mario, but if someone is going to talk about the developers phoning it and desperately trying to stretch the game out, how you could miss that? =P

I knew I forgot something today. Had Z&W on the mind.

He probably didn't get that far. :P

After all he did run on the hamster wheel for 15 minutes instead of finding the shortcuts. ;)

Yeah he did the hamster wheel thing (aka he did it the hard way). You are supposed to steal that money from the person you owe it too.

Not a horrible review though, and I actually find it amusing that he did it the hard way...perhaps he said that for a laugh? Not entirely sure, but hte review of the game was still decently accurate, and in his traditional blunt way he focused a lot more on flaws then strengths...which is what I think most people enjoy about the reviews he does.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Yeah, you only need to spend a minute or two on the hamster wheel, and then buy the secret code to the short cut. I imagine that part can be seriously painful if you don't figure out exactly what you're supposed to do. =P

I've generally been extremely happy with the game, but then again I haven't played Mario platforms for more than a few minutes in a decade (=platforming seemed almost fresh), and never touched any other part of the series (=no nagging feeling of playing the weakest part of the series).

Everything he says sounds perfectly sensible to me, and I now find the mystery of why this masterpiece has a Metacritic score of "only" 85 slightly less mind-boggling.

You should play Paper Mario on N64 or VC...such a great game.

Yes, the original Paper Mario is the best Mario RPG by far.* Effort and high production values show in the final product. I also agree with everything said in this review (well, nude Peach isn't exactly a bad thing), although I don't think the series is about to end anytime soon. And I don't want it to - not before Paper Luigi, at least!

*Super Mario RPG? Hahahahah!
