Forums - Nintendo - Why does the Nintendo Channel videos lag?

Mine used to lag a lot, then I switched it to Standard, and the problem went away.

My never lags.

Mine only really lags on the Nintendo Week show. All of the other videos rarely lag. It kinda sucks though. Oh well.

I should probably switch mine to normal quality then.

Mine lags, too. I can download games in a heartbeat, watch youtube on the Wii, play PS360 online with no problems, but those damn videos..........And I hate the downgraded versions.

^Youtube kinda no longer works on my Wii. At least on a video's actual page. I have to click on the stupid arrow to the top right of the video to open it in a new window and then it works. :-/

they have two settings for High Quality video and Normal video. Make sure it is set to normal quality video if you're connection is not that fast.

Also, if you are using a wireless router, check the settings on it. Make sure it's on the highest bandwidth. 270mbps should work fine.

only sometimes when it loads, then after a few seconds its fine.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

i'm on stardard video quality, and it still lags.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

mine lags too, and my bandwidth is usually like 300-500 kb/s.

this is really slow, so if you are on the higher quality setting that jlauro is talking about I could see why you "lag"

Depends on if he meant bandwidth or throughput.

bandwidth is the theorhetical max he would be able to get from his ISP (in other words what he is paying for)... for instance I have 2Mb/s from Virgin Media.

throughput is the actual speed the data transfers at, which will never get to the top of that.... I am not sure how I can find out the exact speed because those speed-test sites are all a load of wank (I just tried 3 random ones... one said I was getting 850kb/s download, one said 1.4Mb/s and the one I have seen people on here use before... Speedtest.net... said 2.68Mb/s which is more than we are paying for so if it's true then Iam very happy with Virgin Media that's for sure.

I myself have experienced some lag on the Channel videos, but that was a long time ago.... watching them now I don't get any at all if I watch from start to finish, though it does take some time to figure out what it is doing if I use the slider to watch a different portion.

Also what's this about a standard/high quality... is this setting on the Nintendo Channel? Is it only on the updated version because I don't think we have tht in Europe yet (or if we do I haven't checked the options out yet)
