My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.
In film and TV, the film makers will ask the building owners whether it is alright to use their buildings in a the film or TV show in the way they want...
This is just a courtesy thing the game industry has to learn as many of these buildings are marketed using significant dollars and the people that own the buildings want to maintain a specific image of the building.
I doubt it had any significant effect on not winning the award though. Resistence is good and scored 87% on average... Nominated and not winning an award seems like a fitting outcome. 90%+ games usually win the awards.
i agree that they should have asked first--but i think the church mighta gotten a little to high up on the soap box

And i guess that google earth asked each and everyone of you that it was ok to have your house being shown. Anyone who lives in london has also had their house shown in the game the getaway or whatever the game was. Did they ask you guys?

Google Earth doesn't have explosions, fire fights, are evil dudes running around depricating the church now do they?
I am not religious in any way shape or form... But, I do feel that churches are symbols for the people that go to them and if the church does not want to be seen in a way other then it is presented then it should be respected for that.
Google is not misrepresenting the church roof in any way. The roof shows up on google as the roof that is there if you go and stand on it.
How about every WW2 shooter that has a church in it, they are all based off real churches. Every WW2 shooter depicts towns being destroyed, i'm not sure they asked those home owners.

I'm going to guess that you are just acting dense on purpose and that you can infact see the obvious difference between a game, and sattelite photos from earth.
Also, Dick Cheney totally had his house removed from Google Earth.
As for "The Getaway" I imagine they notified any buildings they used for more then backround and that infact any building that isn't of huge note was just replaced by some stock buidling and that Johnny's building didn't just randomly make it into the game right down to his little lawn Gnome. (Aside from the streets right near their development office.)
Infact in "The Getaway" a Van was scrapped because the makers of the van were pissed about the context in which the Van was used.
So your example... actually disporves your point.
Good job!
Don't you ever wonder why It's "Grand Theft Auto:Vice City" and not "Grand Theft Auto: Miami". Or why all the cars have wacky different names?

The Church got all the money they wanted from the visitors they had come in due to this debacle. Sony has been officially used and now it was time to "forgive" them. I have to admit this church is good -_-
