Aiemond how many on that list are consoles that release at a higher price and make your old games for that console useless? I also bet that most of those were used to replace old models
Thats what I thought.
People are too simple minded

DSi released at a higher price point than the DSL was selling at and lost the GBA compatibility. As for this being sold to new markets..this was targeted at the hardcore gamer, expecially at that price. The writing was on the wall for these kinds of sales before launch so they are not a suprise. That does not mean they are not a flop though. The Go is not going to take off in Japan and will not be an important section of the market there. Sony will tout it and try and make it look pretty for a bit till they let it die off there.
The fact is, the pspgo sold like shit on day 1. When the DS releases a new color it sold more than the go on its first day. If you want to say that the go is some small market product that was designed to be used by about 100k people in Japan then I guess can't call this a flop (more a bad decision) but if you want it to have any meaningful penetration or presence, well, the 28k first day number makes that almost impossible. And that, by definition, is a flop.

DS Lite was a bit of an anomaly. It was immediately sold out whenever stock arrived and sold more each week than the last it's first six weeks. It had a minor dip it's seventh week, then sold even more than ever it's eighth week... no platform's ever managed that actually. Nintendo was selling whatever they could get on shelves basically.

It shipped 150k, Sony AND retail clearly expected closer to "gang busters". Calling 19% sellthrough "a flop" isn't exactly too far out there...
It doesn't matter if it sold 5k, the excuses for a flop are blantantly baised. If it sold 50-60k+ they would rant and rave, if it sold 5-10k they would say, "Sony didn't mean for it to be big, it's just an addiontal system to test the market for digital distribution"...It sold 28k (even the SwanCrystal sold more), right in the middle from a major flop, and a fair success...so the excuses are there, but it's "justified".

Why are you quoting first day sales alongside first week sales, again? Is buying stuff an option only on the 1st day of any week, in Japan?
Kinda looks like the PSP Go might be close to the DS Lite, after the first week. Boy, was the DS Lite a flop... right? Awesome logic, jarrod.
The DS light was undershipped which is why it sold so little.

Right, so to compensate, we should only compare the first day of sales, of the PSP Go, to it.
Jarrod - Do you not realize this time period every single person in the retail business is shipping more of their product than they need to to gear up for the holiday season. Nov. 1st is cutting it pretty close to start shipping something and not running into shortages. Is this simple logic lost among you? 150k and it sold 19% of it in what? 16 hours? Please, you arent sony. You arent a manufacture is retail business... you don't know what you are talking about. I bet Sony started shipped a bunch more Ps3s too... except for that they have an extra month to steadily increase product. By this time next week they'll have under 100k. Pretty low stock considering a week after that they'll be selling about that weekly till the end of the years (Total PSPs).
