Sure it's going to have HD, but is it really that important though? seriously I'm using HD occasionally, it looks a little nicer, but the way some people react seems way overblown. It's so not worth it.

HD isn't worthless, it just isn't worth the price that MS and Sony paid for it in 2005/2006. Once the tech is cheap enough to be included in a device which makes a profit at an MSRP of less than $300, it makes sense to support it. Lots of people like you and me don't much care, but there are marginal advantages to be had for a marginal price increase.

And then there are those for whom HD is a Very Big Deal. No reason for Nintendo to leave them out in the cold when it doesn't cost that much to satisfy them.

@ topic in general

I thought it was known that Nintendo's next console would be HD way back when the Wii launched. This isn't really news.
