Forums - Nintendo - Famitsu scores are out, Super Mario Galaxy OFFICIALLY reviewed

I'm predicting a Gamespot review that looks something like this:

"This game is a triumph, with unique gameplay and exceptional controls guaranteed to enthrall and enchant any gamer for hours.

"Unfortunately, the lobotomized chimpanzee we assigned this review to had a hard time understanding how to use the wiimote. He ended up eating the controller and had a tough time playing the game by waggling his belly around and punching himself in the gut. So we're forced to give Super Mario Galaxy 8.5, the official ceiling for any Wii game except WarioWare. Chimpy really likes Wario."

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

The important part is not the score....

I really really don't understand why people give Famitsu any credit as a review source. Don't get me wrong, that's a great average (9.5), and I expect Mario Galaxy deserves a score that high, but seriously Famitsu reviews every big game that high. Someone show me a hyped game that ever got lower than an 8 average from a Famitsu review. Even garbage like Lair gets good reviews from them based on hype and company. They are the Play Magazine of Japan.

Because once opon a time they used to be a good and actually tough review source if i've got my facts straight.

Since then they've turned into Play Magazine.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

Game should have gotten a 45/40 because of... uh... awesome points!

What about the SDF review?

nice score for galaxy but i never really liked famitsus reviews

I'm pretty sure they game halo3 40/40.

Remeber that Famitsu gave 40/40 to Wind Waker. Wind Waker is a great game but far from perfect.

A note aside : Opoona did pretty good ( 31/40 )

Wind Waker is awesome. Do not insult it.

Although, I don't think any of the six games Famitsu has given a 40/40 deserve it. But of the six, The Wind Waker is the closest to being worthy. (I give it a 9.8/10, not sure how that would translate into their point system)

Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
