Forums - Gaming - A question on consoles' intercooling fan!!

I own both a PS3 (40 GB) and a Xbox Elite (Resident Evil 120 GB version). I've see around this site on a few threads how some critisize the Xbox to be too loud and the Ps3 much quieter. In my case, my xbox is always quiet even while a disc is playing, but my PS3 sounds tooo loud while playing a game, watching a dvd/blu ray, and even when its sitting on the dashboard a few minutes after i turn it on. this had me thinking. Is my ps3 messed up internally and are people exaggerrating about the xbox's noise? anyone here have the same issue cause i might have a defected ps3 and/or my xbox is perfectly normal

The PS3 needs plenty of ventilation, don't keep it in an enclosed space. When a game is really pushing the hardware, like Uncharted 2, the fans will increase in volume during the more hardware-heavy parts.

IMO new 360's are just as quiet as ps3, but the older 360's are loud!

oh ok. cause my xbox is this years version, but the ps3 gets too loud so i wondered
