Still, my title is better than the examiner.com title "MS forcefully removes party chat for upcoming titles" Going by that, it sounds like its written in stone and its confirmed to be removed. But the article itself says that they've given the developers the OPTION to remove it. Hence my questionmark in the title. And my speculations on why it will NOT be removed. Or why it would be a stupid thing to do.

In the PC world this is the equivalent of Team Speak. The servers I play on tend to also have dead speak enabled as well. So basically even though it is hardcore mode they still think it is alright to give positions away. It does help with ending games sooner when persons are camping although as I only play Search and Destroy this technically is defending in most cases.

Not a big deal but just another flavour of how infinity ward are controller how the game is played.

End of the day only a handfull of games will go down this route.

it will not get removed, as it's built into the system OS. it would be like removing custom soundtracks, cross game messaging, etc.

I doubt they'll remove it - but clearly they're going to allow individual developers to decide you can't use it during their games. I'd wait and see how the dust settles post MW2 before getting to anxious on this.

I don't even see this as plausible. It makes no sense. And for the record: Cross game chatting =/= Party chat.
