RE4, we were shooting Spaniards right? But thats ok ... ¡Un forastero!

¡Detrás de tí, imbécil!

Spaniards are white though. If they weren't, I'm almost certain that  many would be complaining back then too.

They werent Spaniards, they were Mexicans living in a European country.

I hope this is a joke. Otherwise care to share your evidence?

They have the accent of Mexicans, Im not the only one who believes this and I can link to some sites just that they are in Spanish.

Mexican voice actors? I think it was made pretty clear that the actually game characters were Spanish.

Probably, but they do sound like Mexicans.

Guido=>Gerudo?

Racism will not die if you keep bringing it up. geez...

Oh turns out there were some "complaints" about RE4 with headline:
"Resident Evil: Extinction' Flick Based on Racist Video Game Series"

The most recent Resident Evil movie is based on extremely popular video games like last year's smash-hit Resident Evil 4, which places players in the position of fighting parasitically controlled Spaniards (called "Los Ganados" or "the cattle") with stereotypical Mexican accents. (Well thats according to this guy, I donno if they are Spaniards or Mexicans.)

But, unlike moviegoers, the gamers don't just sit and watch the accented villains; they get to become the white heroes who blow them to smithereens at an average of about 900 enemies per gaming session or "playthrough." And, in what looks like it could be a training video for a white supremacist race war or another U.S. military adventure in one of the increasing numbers of deserts on the planet, players of the soon-to-be-released Resident Evil 5 video game are placed in what could be an African country or Haiti as they blow up armies of black zombies.

Maybe we should just have games that show whites killing whites and lots of loving interacial couples. Are these people that ultra conservative? I mean its a Japanese game, its not like the KKK made it! And to be honest, its these ultra conservatives, that cause American game developers to avoid scenerios like RE4 and 5.

@scruffybunny The author obviously isn't very educated. Spaniards ARE White.

Spanish are white, but racists like the KKK would argue otherwise.

Yes.

www.spacemag.org - contribute your stuff... satire, comics, ideas, debate, stupidy stupid etc.

The KKK didn't like the Spanish because they are Roman Catholic. It eventually led to them thinking Spanish aren't white. Other supremist groups that don't care about religion welcome many southern europeans, including the Spanish though.

You have to really climb a lot of walls. First you have to make a connection in that the Zelda world is somehow connected to the real world (Gerudo, Gorgon, Kokiri, Hyrulians, etc). Then you have to associate that the over stated properties are not simply something done for the game but to make a racist point.

There are many more but this is a lot of assumptions you have to make. So let's play Ockham's Razor real quick. Do we accept that the game is a fictional depiction of a fairy tale world with no relation to the real world or do we accept what i stated in the first paragraph. Ockham's Razor says accept the one with the least assumption so it's a pretty obvious choice.

Really things like this get on my nerve. These attempts to see racial undertones or the fundamentalists arguments are never based in logic and simply trying to stir up the pot when there is none. Not to mention the public generally believes them. Just pathetic.

I don't think TLOZ is racist, but this could be said about most of the games for instance those which only shows white people.
