i love how u twist it "best selling monster hunter games on a console" yea... monster hunter wasnt big be4 it went onto the psp. the 2nd g version has done 3.5 mil in japan, a drop down to 1 mil is still terrible no matter how u slice it

There has been a PS2 version of the game since the series exploded on PSP. Do you apply the same standard to that?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Having a poor excuse for local multiplayer (which was the main reason for the portable games selling so well), I can't see this game doing well here. It'll be lucky to perform on par with Freedom Unite 2 outside Japan, which is well below their expectations. They better hope they don't charge for online, or else they will lose even more potential sales (and if so, I can't imagine Japanese gamers being happy about westerners getting free online play).

Meh, it'll probably bomb in the West, 'cos everyone knows the Wii doesn't sell hardware, doesn't have graphics, only gets minigame compilations and is d00med, overall.

Hilarious. A drop from 3.5 mil to 1 mil on the PSP would be terrible. On consoles where MH has never been as popular 1 mil is great. Hell for any title in Japan this gen 1 mil is great. Also you're forgetting that this game is pay to play and there's already a ton of people playing. Considering Capcom already said the game sold great, you're wrong, period.

You're right. It may not have sold nearly as well on PS3, and then again, even if it would have, the development costs would've been so high they'd need to sell a LOT more to make a profit. MH3 has, arguably, the best graphics on Wii. A PS3 equivalent of that would've been disproportionately expensive, and on top of that, it probably wouldn't even be out yet.

game is pretty awesome no matter the sales, though..... I canceled my pre order for NA release for now because they are unsure of free online play atm, my response to that is an obvious "fuck you!" to capcom, time will tell.

Nintendo will publish it in europe that means it will sell like water in the desert , i dont know how much will nintendo push the title here

GO PATS! 2012 THE YEAR OF NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS'S 4TH SUPER BOWL!

A patriot to the end. GO PATS!

Now playing> THE LAST STORY (Wii) Best RPG I EVER PLAYED. *-*

Nintendo could u please just take my money and give me back my 3DS?!

Well the fact that Nintendo is behind the marketing of this game in America does give it hope that it will find an audience here, although I think it'll probably be about 500K at best. Either way, this title SHOULD be the one to show uneasy 3rd-parties that they CAN have a success on Wii, provided they give said game a good marketing campaign and advertising.

Capcom wanted 2 million worldwide.

With the 1 million they will get from Japan, it will be below their expectations.
Europe won't buy much of it (they barely buy anything anymore), but America may be around 200k-400k.

So low end: 1.25m (1m JP, .20m NA, .05m EU)
High end: 1.51m (1.01m JP, .40m NA, .1m EU)

Wow, you expect such low sales for Europe?

MHF sold 1.42m, 0.23m in US and 0.16m in Europe
MHF2 sold 2.39m, 0.37m in US and 0.27m in Europe
MHFU sold 3.96m, 0.20m in US and 0.23m in Europe

All on PSP, where Europe hardly sells any software.

To be honest, I have no faith in the European market whatsoever. Also, I doubt that the success that would come for a portable entry of the series will fare as successfully on a home console. Sometimes, the move doesn't translate well in terms of sales, and it loses the appeal.

Europe is also Sony's dominant market I believe, so they have some leeway there.

That's only true if the series was popular on handhelds to begin with. Outside of Japan it certainly isn't.

You really think it'll only sell 50k-100k in EU with obvious great marketing? Even No More Heroes sold more than that. Hell even Little King's Story is already at 70k. Neither title recieved any marketing.

Do you want to bet on this? Should be an easy win :P

A lot has changed in the 2 months since I made that post.

I revised my predicted sales recently to 1.85m WW (1m JP, 580k NA, 270k EU/O) with the Japanese sales included. I'm not trying to gas my own head up only to be disappointed. I have to see to which extent Nintendo will assist Capcom in marketing the title.
