Shonen Jump reveals FFXIII Crystalium -growth- System (scans+information)

Today the character growth system was revealed in Shonen Jump. The scans are from next week’s Shonen Jump so they aren’t officialy released yet. Therefore the scans are in low quality for the time being.

The growth system is called “Crystalium System” and closely resembles to the sphere grid from FFX. In battle you will earn CP (Crystalium Points) instead of Experience points which aren’t in the game (like FFX). There won’t be a level-up system in FFXIII! With the earned CP points you will be able to learn an ability and when you learned it another one will open up.

No more information is currently known. It’s still unclear how the abilities are lined-up. It doesn’t look like a grid or board like past FF’s. Famitsu will probably also have information about this Crystalium system next week, so look forward to that.

The Jump scans also revealed some more screens of cities in FFXIII. They look bright and lively and … there’s a video wall with Siren on it??

BETTER SCAN!!

cocoon has an amusement park! lol

On the left side is Cocoon's amusement park, called ノーチラス・パーク (Nautilus Park?)　and the bottom pictures shows us one of the street corners of that place. They also note that you scan see "someone" that looks like a summon on the video wall. (well obviously its Siren)

Snows disc:
Snow's case you can see that the center of his disc is the attack command, from there on you can go 3 different directions. One being +70HP, another one I cant recognize and the path going to the bottom of the disc is highlighted/shining which means its the way to a new ability.

Fire
This ability can be used by the Blaster role. Its attack power and its costs to use are small, therefor its easy to use.

Fira
Using the crystallium system you can level up the Blaster role, which will enable you to use Fira at some point.　The spell hits nearby enemies too (so it works on groups).

Firaga
If you advance even more, you will get the high class magic Firaga. It has a bigger range, so you can hit even more enemies with it and it also blast enemies into the air.________

If you look at SNOW's one, you can see HP + 30 clearly (according to japanese translation people)

I LOVED THE SPHERE GRID SO THIS IS A VERY POSITIVE revelation for me!!

Very exciting! I loved FF X too. The only thing is, to start with, this is basically a levelling up system before you get to craft your character

I agree.  Grinding is great.

You can still grind in this way, but you get to choose what to spend your levels on.... If you haven't played FF X, what have you been doing?

you can still grind.....I HAD TO grind in FFX to get more spheres, LOL have people not played FF10 here (directed at leo-j)

I did a ridiculous amount of grinding in FFX, and as a result, Tidus, Wakka and Rikku have all finished the sphere grid, and last time I played, I was filling in the empty nodes with extra sphere to max everyone out, Tidus's strength is already maxed out

I concentrated on tidus, lulu & auron on the other hand

Yuna was, well used for cure, cura mostly

Wakka was like yuna, developed ok

I completely left out kimahri & Rikku

Well I used these three because I was told to by a guide to beating Pennance, which is what I was working towards. Rikku has some overdrive which means she can do massive healing, but as it is they can all do great curagas, especially as I have the ultimate weapon for Tidus, as well as the perfect armour for him (auto haste, auto life, ribbon and break HP limit!!). I just love playing as high level characters in RPGs

But it was way to easy to have a character that can do all magic and all skills.  I didn't have a black mage, white mage, strong sword attack guy:  I had all my characters do everything.  It was too easy.
