If nintendo one day puts super graphics in their console, in a moderate price... it would get bashed at because they will say "they focus to much graphics then gameplay"...

THATS how much hate the video game critics and gamers have for nintendo

WHY... idk... ask one of them... maybe they'll be honest.

Pretty much.  This is what they did on the GameCube.  While at the same time obsessing over the XBOX's graphics and scoring PS2 games higher on Graphics.

Its funny how when a Sony system does it, stuff like Presentation and art direction makes its way into graphics to increase the score.  But when a Nintendo system is involved with anything, everything is cut and dry 'there was bad textures and the graphics were weak compared to the graphics on 'X' game on XBOX/PS2'.

Now that the Wii is involved, its just been accented even worse as they think Nintendo 'sold out' on the Graphics.

That's some imagination you've got there.

Says the person with an image of Shadow of the Colossus in his Signature....one of the best examples of my statement above (game reviewers obsessing over 'graphics' when they are really obsessing over art direction and presentation).

Its a clear sign of bais when PS2 games can get 9.0 and 9.5 in graphics and GC games, a system which was much better in graphics, gets downscored.  A game like Shadow of the Colossus does not have the same graphical level of Resident Evil 0.  Yet they have the same score for 'Graphics' on IGN.

Win over the gaming media? Which gaming media are you talking about, 1.Up ?

I don't think Nintendo needs to win over the support of crappy journalists like those hired by companies like 1Up. I remember when the PSP was released that the hosts of AttackOfTheShow each got a free PSP and a copy of every launch title as well as memory sticks and some other Sony swag. Now I don't know about you but that sounds like a payoff to me. I have never heard of Nintendo giving every person at a game magazine or TV show a copy of their new platform , a copy of every launch title etc... I remember Attack of the Show saying their was like 40 PSP's for everyone on the show (And interns etc...etc...). They praised Sony and thanked them on TV for the swag.

So how can Nintendo win over the media? they can start paying them off with swag on bribes. I mean come on Sony uses their own media as promotions on their covers. I remember seeing PlayStation magazine ratings on Sony packages. "5-star game says PSM" or how about movies I remember Sony got in tons of hot water when reviewers of their movies were found to be on Sony's own pay roll.

Lets face it Sony has the media owned. They are really good at manipulating the media. Microsoft on the other hand creates more adult games then Nintendo and lets face it the media is run by adults. Sure most of Nintendo's titles are for everyone but adults will always favour game companies that target them. I remember seeing Eternal Darkness and Giest getting tons of media coverage. Why because both titles were adult.

So what does Nintendo need to do to get the same love Sony gets?

-Pay off the media

-give away tons of free swag

-market more games to an older audience

But lets face it their are tons of Nintendo supporters in big media outlets like IGN or even here at VGchartz. Do we really need the loosers at 1.Up and other biased studios? I say let them go down with their Sony loving ship! We don't need em!

And a game like Brawl gets a 9.0 in graphics from IGN while Tekken 6, a much, much better looking game gets a 7.5. That's because Wii graphics are scored by Wii standards, just like PS2 graphics were scored by PS2 standards.

And FYI, art direction and presentation factor into the graphics scores of all games, regardless of console.

Absolutely correct. You're right here. While I do think reviewers tend to be biased against the Wii in some cases, I rarely think they are when it comes to graphics. When graphics actually stand out on Wii (Brawl, SMG for example), they get high graphics scores. I'm with OkeyDokey here.

And that's why a game like Metroid Prime Trilogy can also garder a score of 9.0 in graphics on the Wii?  The same exact score as Brawl.  See, we can pull up examples all night, it just shows the same exact thing, the reviewers are inconsistent and put up scores at random to fit their own purposes.  Especially on IGN, where they obsess over Metroid (showing the inflated score for graphics and Metroid scores as a whole).  With many times, Matt Casamassina stating Metroid Prime is his favorite game of all time.  Yet his staff (and Matt himself) are the same guys who poke fun at Nintendo on a regular basis on podcasts and even stated they were going to try to 'warn the world about WiiMusic'.

As you can see, there's way more behind the scenes of review sites than just a simple black and white score.  There's tons of personal opinions, bias and even the reviewers trying to manipulate their readers views.

I don't get it. One minute you're complaining that critics hate Nintendo and now you whine about how you think IGN overrates Metroid games.

I think the lesson here is that your opinions aren't always the same as everyone elses.

My original and still point is that reviewers are inconsistent and just make up scores to fit their own purposes.  If anything, you're the one who seems to be trying to find fault in my views by only paying attention to half of my posts.

Could Nintendo win over the gaming media with Metroid: Other M? Probably not, because it's still on the Wii. They might make some inroads into the men's-magazine segment, though.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

I don't see Zelda Wii releasing in 2010. Most people are acting like it's a given, an official fact that the game will definitely come out next year, but all we've seen is asingle piece of concept art. I'll believe it comes out in 2010 when it does. :p

Considering Miyamoto has said they're totally remaking the 3D Zelda formula and the game isn't even close to being done, I don't understand why people keep saying it'll release in 2010 (unless they're just so hyped they've gotten themselves to believe it will).  I'm expecting something more like 2012 at the earliest.  Remember, it took them 5 years to perfect Orcarina of Time, the model which they've been using for the last 10 years for the other 3D Zeldas.
