Lol. How stupid must you be. Still it's fuel for the fire for the other side.
I haven't switched my console on today, too much rugby on the TV, but I am a bit worried. I don't have any pirated games, or a modded console but in case there's an error on their part. MS are very unforgiving when it comes to Live.

I was about to post the same thing. LOL.  People post links to shit and don't even bother to read what it is they are linking to.

Is the 360 that badly designed that is regularly ruins discs? I have never...never heard of or experienced disc damage caused by the device. And that's DVD players, PCs, CD players, PS, PS2, XB1. But all of a sudden 360 causes all manner of disc damage that necessitates the widespread modding of the console to preserve original game discs in playable condition. All sounds rather unlikely.

Believe it or not yes, they are known to damage discs but i'm also talking about discs in general, most of my discs end up getting damaged if i forget to put them back in the case or they fall on the floor, even when I clean them I sometimes end up marking them, my retail COD 4 disc no longer even loads as it is marked badly, if i want a replacement from MS it will cost me £22.50 if i send the damaged one back!

And yeah, I know a LOT of people only flash 360's to play pirate games but there are also a lot of people that do only flash them to play backups of games they actually own, look on xbox-scene for example, they don't allow any talk of piracy and 80% of members there only flash their 360's for LEGAL purposes, hard to believe I know but it does happen!

What?  Stop lying.  I was willing to entertain that you could possibly be telling the truth in your previous post but now you're just majorly stretching the truth.

The 360 *can* damage discs if you move the console while the disc is in the drive.  So unless you turn your 360 on and then just start carrying it around the house in which case you're an idiot (which I don't think you are), I just don't believe you.

Sorry, but you again fit into the bullshit artist pirate.  You can rant and rant how you're an honest pirate and just playing back ups because somehow your 360 and all your friends 360's break discs like crazy but I just won't believe you.

I'm not sure if you just didn't read the link you posted to or if you're trying to back me up...

you are proving twestern's point?

-twesterm edit-

I don't know what you did but you messed something up so I'm just deleting this post >_>

For anyone that cares, it was "Triple LOL" and a quote tree of I assume other lawls.

"On March 23, 2009, the BBC's consumer interest programme Watchdog performed an investigation into how the console scratches its own discs, after Microsoft found no issues with multiple reportedly defective consoles. A sealed test, protected from any outside interference beyond accessing games, found no problems with either console. However, a further test which attempted to simulate normal household vibrations produced a disc scratch on the previously problematic console."

In another words you should not only move the 360 but you need to be still as well. LOL

better not have your subwoofer too high or you may put a scratch on the disc.

Ah but PS3 fans proved you can ignore everything Watchdog says as they are always wrong and the opposite is true.

The whole "modding my console for the purpose of making within my legal rights copies of my purchased games" is frankly, a load of crap.

It's a double load of crap since the 360 allowed full installs to HDD, which hypothetically means that those who are completely INCAPABLE of handling and using optical media without scratching, dropping, throwing or accidentally using it as a coaster, door stop, frisbee, cheese cutter, etc. can limit DVD drive use and disk handling to once per install.

The radial scratches were primarily a problem with the original DVD drives which were brilliantly assembled without bumper guards in the interest of saving a few cents off the production cost of the drives.

The packing clearly states not to move or reorient the console while the drive is spinning, but apparently that's too difficult for some to the point that it is EASIER for them to have their console modded and make "back ups" of all their legally purchased games.

Call me skeptical. All I know is every one of my disks looks exactly the same as it did when initially opened. Most of them could be passed off as brand new.

Regardless it's a moot point: modding your console falls outside of the terms of fair use meaning, do at your own risk with the understanding that you could find your console banned at any given time. No big deal; you knew the risk.

This thread has the most OTT title ever. Win.

Slightly off-topic but I don't care,
How do you put the console icon under your avatar?
I've looked everywhere and can't find out how to?

That's great news, good for Ms to punish them.
