The whole "modding my console for the purpose of making within my legal rights copies of my purchased games" is frankly, a load of crap.

It's a double load of crap since the 360 allowed full installs to HDD, which hypothetically means that those who are completely INCAPABLE of handling and using optical media without scratching, dropping, throwing or accidentally using it as a coaster, door stop, frisbee, cheese cutter, etc. can limit DVD drive use and disk handling to once per install.

The radial scratches were primarily a problem with the original DVD drives which were brilliantly assembled without bumper guards in the interest of saving a few cents off the production cost of the drives.

The packing clearly states not to move or reorient the console while the drive is spinning, but apparently that's too difficult for some to the point that it is EASIER for them to have their console modded and make "back ups" of all their legally purchased games.

Call me skeptical. All I know is every one of my disks looks exactly the same as it did when initially opened. Most of them could be passed off as brand new.

Regardless it's a moot point: modding your console falls outside of the terms of fair use meaning, do at your own risk with the understanding that you could find your console banned at any given time. No big deal; you knew the risk.
