It's a virus strain that is killing more people every month.

I'm fine with them riding the story to death because the alternative is less coverage which leaves more people ignorant about it and means fewer will take the proper precautions for themselves and their children.

I think a lot of the people who are saying there's too much coverage are the people in their teens or 20s who feel somewhat invincible and don't have children. A child's immune system isn't as strong as an adult's and they're at risk from viruses like this far more because of it. Something that you could shake off with a couple days in bed can be fatal to them.

If you're a parent then you damn well want to know when something is dangerous to your child and how to prevent it.

One person died of the virus here. 1 out of 7 millions...and she was 87 years old!

So your point is that because only one person has died where you live that everyone is safe and that no one should care or what?

As of today, 1,463 people have died of it in the US.  There were 210 fatalities in just this past week.

People die of the flu every year. This year, they decided to add a name to one of them and now everybody thinks that it's a lot more deadly while it's not as much as the media is making it sound. You have 0,02% chance of dying...now come on.

This isn't the regular flu though.  This is one strain of the flu that is killing a lot of people.

In the last month we've had anywhere between 150 and 300 deaths per week.

Do you think your percentage makes the families of those 210 people who died last week feel better?  The 150 people who died the week before?  The 115 people who died the week before that?

You know what's even worse?  The number of people dying each week hasn't been going down.  It's going up.

ok.. so is your appeal to emotion supposed to change our minds?

the fact is that there are plenty of ways we can die EVERY DAY.

Should they cover the story? Yes. Do they need to do it so much? I don't think so. Everyone is aware of it now. No need to keep saying the same thing over and over.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Most of the people that die of swine flu have underlying conditions, are children or are elderly. Its really not a big deal compared to regular flu.

A girl in the same hall as me, only a few doors down got it O.o

I think I had the flu a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't so bad. It could have been H1N1 for all I know.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Bet: If Kingdom Hearts 3 becomes a multiplaform title/is not Wii exclusive then I will be banished from this land for 1 week and sing my praises to those who have proved themselves to be more intelligent than I.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/RDBRaptor/rdbraptor_sig16.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">

Oh and I had the swine a couple of months back, isolation was boring but that was about it. It (in it's current form at least) is about as dangerous as the average flu - so it's not too dangerous at all. The problem is how many people it is going to effect means that it will kill more people than the normal flu.

Also there is still the fear of a more virulent strain.

The normal flu killed Jim Henson.

I have it now, so I'm spending my time in isolation on Vgchartz! Got my partner getting me some Tamiflu later today so should hopefully be cured soon enough.

Nooo! Your post is touching my post! Now, I have it!!

*cough, cough*

Wait. No. No I don't.
