Forums - Sales - Wii back atop the PS360

Just mentioning that the wii has sold more than the ps3 and 360 combined again. Didn't see any other threads on the matter. I saw many "wii is doomed" threads when the slim launched.

Stupid Wii. PHHHHT!!! Humph.

Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.

yep as long as that happens its gaining market share

Yes, I agree, Wii is doomed. Clearly the Slim launch will boost Ps360 far above Wii sales for holiday season 2009. ITtwill probably end the year sub 45% marketshare.

52% of this week sales, what is important are the sales during the holidays, if Wii is able to have more than 50% of Holiday console's sales is in a good position.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Good achievemnet this week, but I dont ewxpect it to continue.

I think it is fairly obvious now that the Wii will never reach 50% market share (total install base).

I wouldn't say that. Wii could get pretty far ahead this holiday season. 360 is doing a lot worse this year than expected, even worse than PS3 2008. The slim counteracts this decrease to the point where the ration of Wii to ps360 this year is exactly the same as last year. With a stronger 2010 lineup and the PS3 slowign down from slim launch and 360s continued decline. 50% marketshare in holiday 2010 is plausible. Of course this depends if Nintendo can maintain the momentum from the price cut through next year with a strong lineup.

No chance.

The Gap between HD and Wii grew by 1.5m in the last 7 weeks alone.

For Wii to achieve 50% market share needs to outsell 360 and PS3 combined by:

252,829 p/m to achieve 50% by Jan 2011. 58,345 per week.
136,139 p/m to achieve 50% by Jan 2012. 31,417 per week.
93,148 p/m to achieve 50% by Jan 2013. 21,496 per week.
70,792 p/m to achieve 50% by Jan 2014. 16,337 per week.

Current rate is:  -78,052 per month on average for the last 12 months.
-209,918 per month on average for the last 6 months.
-464,731 per month on average for the last 3 months.
Negative number would mean 360 & PS3 are still outselling Wii by that amount per month on average

And the Wii can erase that 1.5 million this holiday season if things continue the way they are.

Sony and MS are running out of ammo to spur system sales, less room to cut the price. Wii just needs to maintain it's momentum through 2010 to reach 50% by the end of the year, of course for all I know Wii could have another terrible 2nd quarter like this year. I don't think the Wii will reach 50% by selling a lot more than it does now, but by 360 and PS3 selling a lot less.

I can see the Wii outselling PS3 and 360 combined this holiday by more than Wii did in 2008 holiday. a lot of it coming in December where Wii was supply constrained last year. Wii is down about 10% this year (along with ps360), but I think their December can be 30% larger. 360 sales will be a lot lower this year, counterbalanced by the increase in PS3 sales. It's very optimistic, yes, but I think there is a possibility.

Wii is back on top in sales... good stuff.

But even the most die hard Wii owner can't brag that its on top of the gaming food chain this holiday season. Console will sell...but yeah, thats about it.

Incorrect, the Wii is down 25% this year.... PS360 are up...

I'm talking about going into the holiday season, not for the entire year. Looking at last october and this october, Wii is down 10%, ps360 are down 10%.
