BTW didnt you say Sony couldnt drop the price of the Ps3 on a slim because it would be more to manufacture? Didn't you also say that the Ps3 slim wasnt real? Didn't you say the Ps3 slim would only help Japan? Gont you hate being blinded by your sony hatred and being wrong all the time? |
It's not a matter of 3 successes then 1 blunder. It's 9 years of PS2 money getting lost in only 4 years. Now Sony is cutting into their PS1 profits. The PS3 has drained almost all the money from the entire PlayStation brand. And the price cut is speeding that up by increasing the sales while cutting the revenue.

I read an interview a view weeks ago, and a Sony Rep said that R&D on new models begin a week after the current model is launched. It starts out as busy work for the 1st year, then about 2-3 years in the engineers kick into high gear and start prepring for 2nd stage R&D, which he could not detail, rather not allowed to give details on. |
yeah I know
but what I mean is "SERIOUS" R&D for the Ps4 at the least for the PSP-2 should have begun now
by serious I mean they must be at a stage where they are pouring in cash to research a new chip & so on.

so? Future potential is huge for the PS brand
if SONY are smart, PS4 will break even at launch.....if they are confident they can use a nintendo startegy, SONy's profits from the PS brand will be absolutely huge.
On the other hand if they just leave altogether, they literally abandon the most powerful brand in gaming (& no not comparable to what SEGA did as much of their glory was destroyed by the saturn/countless add ons for the genesis)
Why leave when your about to profit? PS3 Taught Sony a lesson, and they wont make the same mistake again. Making mistakes help people to learn.
And i bet they are learning now
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st ![]()

Your the one who is laughable. You dont understand economics do you. The current problems Sony has is indeed mismanagement. That the yen is not working for them is something they should have taken in account. Losing 6 billion on one console is not very good management, its very hard to make that much back. And believe it or not, the ps3 was made to be a big cashcow for sony and that alone. The first xbox also caused big losses (not as big as the ps3 though), but at least it had its strategy behind it and it was up against the mighty Playstation 2 and the less mighty gamecube. They just wanted to penetrate the market. The ps3 is finally selling ok, and thats cool if your a ps3 lover. But if you look at the big picture the ps3 is a failure, they went from owning the whole gaming market and making big profits to third place and big losses.
It doesnt matter if Sony made money before currency meltdowns, what matters is now. Besides, the ps3 was already accountable for 2/3 billion in losses before the markets went crazy. |
Like you said MS made it clear that they knew that entering the video games industry was going to cost them. However, they also believed they would reach profitability in 2008 (Their games divison actually became profitable in 07 due to Halo 3).
In a sense Ken Kutaragi became a bit arrogant if not even overzealous with the PS3. I doubt he planned for the 360, or especially the Wii to end up taking the lead over the PS3.
Of course Sony got their priorities straight as of late but their actions have already eaten up into the profits that the PS2 should have brought in by now.

Nintendo is the most powerful brand in gaming...
Tease.
What company didn't lose millions and billions in this recession?
