so core games on Wii are niche whether first party or not... I still dont get it why Nintendo even try. I betcha even the ones in this site will not buy core games on the Wii. Hence, Dead Space extraction and S&P 2 and Im sure there are some people here living in Japan right now.

Only proves that forum dwellers are in niche minority, not even in minority.

The original Sin and Punishment only sold 0.13 during its lifetime, it's a quite niche series but a core game??? C'mon....

you all find soon enough after the release of Metroid Other M. After the initial screens theres Ninja Gaiden 2 written all over it.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

I'm not predicting doom for the DS. There's barely any games coming from Nintendo themselves and SE, which is the biggest 3rd party publisher on the console in Japan. I'm getting tired of people acting like defensive kids when I'm sharing backed up thoughts.

What's so wrong with Nintendo coming out with a successor to their console by next year? If they aren't, then why haven't they announced any more games for their own platform? Why has SE stopped announcing games for it too?

Come out with a proper counter arguement or be quiet and stop spamming.

It simple you said it earlier stealth releases... you did say that right and you agree thier are doing it so why are you surprise the  are no announcements..... That just make no sense it like you have blind rage at nintendo from third peson perspective if you already awnsered your own question yet ask it any way...

What did you just wirte there? I'm not sure you even quoted the right post. Nowhere do I mentioned stealth releases in that post.

Plus, if you are saying that the DS's successor makes no sense, then you must know something we don't.

HISTORICALLY NINTENDO STOPPED PRODUCING GAMES FOR THEIR PLATFORMS RIGHT BEFORE THE LAUNCH OF THEIR NEXT ONE.

THERE ARE NO MORE GAMES ANNOUNCED FOR THE DS NEXT YEAR, EVEN IN JAPAN. Can you understand it now that it is in caps?

Golden Sun 3 is the only game coming out. Last year, at this time we already knew about multiple games coming out for the DS, now we only have one upcoming game. And it's no coincidence that after DQVI there are no more DS games announced from SE.

Oh stop yelling at people.

Nintendo is known for announcing titles within months of release these days.  It's likely they won't announce anything more for the DS until the start of next year.  Remember Spirit Tracks back in March?  The game is releasing less than ten months later.

I like Treasure games too and I know they aren't known for being big sellers, but there's no way it should have sold this little. Nintendo didn't actually started sharing media and info until 2 weeks were left till release

The game was made for the West. Japan getting it first is likely a by-product of the developers rather than a business decision. VC sales got them to make the game after all.

OK, in that case I do hope they hype it a bit more in the West. Not like what happened to excitebots, which they didn't hype because the previous game sold well enough. They might give the same treatment to S&P2 considering the 1st one sold when on the VC, and that wouldn't be any good.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Trestres I remember you saying the same thing re: Nintendo titles on the DS back before Spirit Tracks was announced. You have ot understand if people take all of this with a grain of salt.

@makingmusic: Yet Nintendo didn't announce anything at E3 for the DS save for Golden Sun 3. They always release their games first in Japan, and they don't have any other games announced save for Golden Sun 3. Also DS is already seeing its 4th HW revision, meaning that they are trying to get as many sales as possible before the new console comes out. Kind of what happened with the GBA, with the SP an at the end of its life came the GBA Micro.

Sorry, I didn't see what you wrote down as an argument, so a counter-argument would be, well, counter intuitive.

Nintendo announce most of their games about 3 months before their release. Im not trying to say that the next Ninty handheld isn't going to come out soon, but to say that the DS is doomed because Ninty haven't announced any games for it is just silly.

As for SE, you are just lying, or wrong.

In other words the games that are coming are not major franchise so why hype...just like you said...

I love fighting games !!! Come on challenge me !

@scottie: You do realize those aren't even relevant games? No one knows or cares about them, much like the Snoopy and the other crappy mini game collection they released for the DS like 2 years ago.

You petty insults make you look stupid. SE isnt giving the DS anymore support after DQVI and Nintendo hasn't announced any new games for the DS either. Why do you have to insult to make a point? I honestly could care less, but I know I made your blood boil, so I'm just happy I managed a nerd rage somewhere in the world.

Check at the amount of games the DS got from Nintendo themselves in 2006, 2007, 2008 and now 2009. Do you see a pattern?

If you are going to use Wikipedia as a source I would recommend you to check game by game, not look at that terrible list they have set up. 2009 saw way less games than 2008, and if that's an indication, 2010 will be way smaller, considering we only have 1 game announced for next year.
