Project Natal aims to get gamers holding conversations with their televisions (if Milo is anything to go by) and insists that “you are the controller”. But how on earth would an FPS with no control pad work? It seems that perhaps Rare are already giving this serious consideration.
The latest issue of trade weekly MCV carries a feature on first person games, and the history of their success. It is here that Rare’s head of studio Mark Betteridge is quoted as saying: “Right now our sights are trained on Natal, which is a great opportunity to break new ground with content and gameplay. It’s also an opportunity to exercise some genre evolution, so hopefully we’ll be able to develop something on that front.”
While no announcement of a game in production, it certainly tells us that Rare will be first in line for a Natal FPS, and that they’ve already been thinking about it…

The CEO for Activision's Guitar Hero brand has told TechRadar that the company is excited about the possibilities for future Guitar Hero games using Microsoft's Project Natal motion control tech, and is already working with the software giant.
Activision's Dan Rosensweig also talked about potentially opening up in new 3D tech and has explained more about the thinking behind [Activision CEO] Bobby Kotick's recent comments on direct-to-TV guitars.
"The more ubiquitous gaming becomes, the more places that people want to play it, the more places we want to be," said Guitar Hero CEO Dan Rosensweig.
"As technology gets cheaper and more interesting – take, for example, something like Project Natal, you can imagine a series of different ways that it might be fun to add that kind of capability to music genre games," he added.
"So yeah, we are working with Microsoft on that. We think that's exciting. And we are working with all the first-party vendors on all the new technologies, because each first party offers something unique.
"Every time there is new technology and new capability, we really do try to be amongst the first to innovate and leverage it. Natal is something that we find particularly intriguing."
