Forums - Gaming - Totally Unbiased 360/ Wii/ PS3 comparison thread

Great comparison, thank you!

It's especially interesting for me as I bought a PS3 yesterday.

I noticed that the PS Store doesn't seem to offer the option to access and browse ALL demos and other free stuff (such as some designs/wallpapers/characters). Maybe I just didn't find the option, but at least a search for the word "demo" worked.

Also it seems that unlike the Wii Shop Channel the PS Store doesn't tell you that you've already downloaded a specific game or file. I wonder if an accidental 2nd download of the same file just overwrites the existing one or saves it as a 2nd file.

One more thing: Flower is great! After having played the first "level" it's already among my most favorite games of the year.

*highfive*

Good man!

And I don't think there is an option to be shown all demos in the PS Store, I haven't seen it at least

Forgot that only the 360 offers in-game streaming from a PC. Personally this is one of my favorite features as by the time your 30-40 hrs in on a 100+ hr game, the music gets old and I use my PC so often that my entire MP3 library can sit there rather than on both the PC and the 360, so I minds well stream it! Aside from that, I didn't see it on the ps3 section, but I am pretty sure that the PS3 has downloadable music visualizations whereas the 360's are static and on LSD + Coke and make serious attempts at inducing epilepsy.

Oh, and not sure where this would fit in, but on the 360 you can mess with your avatar by using the right analog stick. When you log into the dashboard, if your highlighted over your user profile which features your avatar, you can rotate the analog stick up/down and cause your avatar to give an affirmative "yes sir" style nod, you can rotate the stick left/right and get an angry "hell no," clockwise or counterclockwise to get a "dizzy" look, or indent the thumbstick to get a "hello" wave. Is this real gaming? no, but it is seriously entirely too entertaining from time to time.

it does tell you actually, it shows a red PS Store bag on the icon which means you already Bought it , and you can check your download list to check what you bought. demos get the same treatment.

im sure you will love Flower even more if you keep playing it. it actually tells a story. you will know what i mean

Good idea although some idiots will spoil this thread no doubt. One feature I wish was available on PS3 was the ability to have both HDMI and optical output enabled at the same time, gets rather annoying for me having to swap between the two in the settings menu. The reason I end up doing this is I have only one optical input on my amp and I'm usually too lazy to get up and unplug the 360 to plug the PS3 in, I should really try an optical splitter sometime.

One of the best features of PS3 is the lack of proprietary connectors. You can use any cheap 2.5" hdd, you can use any bluetooth headset, you can use any usb keyboard, etc.

Best of all: You can use any USB gamepad you like, for instance those Sega Saturn USB pads, which are awesome for 2D games (shoot 'em ups, platformers, fighters etc).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can now (since firmware 3.0).

@Pullus: Yes, I saw the bag on the icons and that you can check your download list. Out of curiousity I was just wondering if an accidental 2nd download of the same file overwrites the existing one or automatically creates a 2nd file on the disk (like e.g. Mac OS does).

I've never tried it, but even if it would overwrite the game, it wouldn't overwrite your saves, as they are stored separately. And it wouldn't count as an additional download either (you can re-download each game your purchased to the same console as often as you like).

nah , it doesn't do anything to the file, it just downloads it like you download it normally on the download list, the file is kept at its same number on the list.
