Forums - Gaming - PS1>N64 Thread!

Pfft PS1, had both the N64 and PS1 and the best N64 games had no equal for years even today OOT is not toppled, no matter how many games you name that alone makes N64 far better imo, both OOT and MM top any PS1 game, don't come at me with MOH when N64 owners where playing the far superior Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Turok series, CTR? lol MK64 > CTR, Crash and Spyro? Come on man these two don't hold a candle up to M64, Banjo, Conker, DK64 and JFG which shook the 3d platforming genre.

RE and Tomb Raider are cool but I had these on my Saturn where many PS1 games also appeared, which leaves PS1 with JRPGs and MGS. Not saying PS1 is a bad console though it's just that even with more games I was like wow with it's best games then I would see the likes Mario 64, OOT, Banjo and Conker and be blown away left in awe. N64 > PS1.

this is in response to the j mans thread.

the PS1 had all these iconic games on it:

Gran Turismo - the king of all racing/driving games

Spyro the Dragon - how can you not love this game?

Metal Gear Solid - one of the most popular action adventure games ever

Final Fantasy VII - one of the most popular JRPG's of all time

Tekken 2/3 - best fighting games ever imo

Crash Bandicoot - fun action adventure series

Crash Team Racing - arguably better than MK64

Suikoden 2 - highly regarded rpg

Chrono Cross - popular rpg

Tomb Raider Series

Wip3out

Syphon Filter 2

Pro Evo Soccer

Fear Effect

Dino Crisis

Medal of Honor

Resident Evil

Parasite Eve

and many more awesome games people love!

I think pretty much all of those games are boring. The PC games of the time were far better. Terrible graphics, terrible controls, average gameplay. Honestly I would have died had I not had a PC to play with in those days. I feel sorry for anyone subjected to such a monstrosity. At least the games on consoles nowadays are much better.

Add me to that list !

Plus, enjoy the list of games I posted on the "N64> PS1" thread.

"MGS + FF VII + FF VIII + FF IX + Vagrant Story + Xenogears + Chrono Cross + Driver + Driver 2 + Wipeout + Tekken + Tekken 2 + Tekken 3 + Gran Turismo + Gran Turismo 2 + Tomb Raider + Need For Speed + Cool Boarders + Crash Bandicoot + Crash Bandicoot 2 + Crash Bandicoot 3 : Warped + Spyro + Spyro 2 + Oddworld + Medievil + Soul Reaver + Resident Evil + Resident Evil 3 : Nemesis + Wild Arms + GTA's + Valkyrie Profile + G-Police + Grandia + Jade Cocoon + Blood Omen + Star Ocean + Suikoden say hello =)"

Ugh, both consoles were better in their own ways

I love both, and enjoyed both. I think PSone had way more good games than the 64 did, but the 64 had the genre and generation defying classics...games that are still playable to this day (Zelda, Mario) where as the PSone doesnt have as many games that aged well, outside of the FF's.

Both good consoles.

count me in psx best console ever!

With games such as 3 command & conquer titles, the original crash, destructions derby 2 and the Tekken series. There is no doubt that my preference is the ps1.

Check out my game about moles ^

The PS1 has so many quality games and is home to so many series that are still thriving today. So I agree that PS1 was a greater system than the N64. MGS and FFVII were both mind blowing. Their were just so many different experiences that the PS1 offered that the N64 didn't. The only area the PS1 couldn't compete with the N64 was 3D platformers, Nintendo dominated that area.

But there was nothing on the PS1 that compared to OOT and Goldeneye. Just thinking of the first time I played Ocarina still brings a smile to my face.
