Forums - Nintendo - Morgan Webb: Mario Galaxy 'aimed so much for kids'

Clearly meant to engage adults on their level.

Agreed. That storybook was childish gibberish that's beneath adults.

Besides, kiddy-looking s*** ain't mature enough for adults, amirite?

Maybe she's bitter because she's still a virgin.

I, erm, doubt that. Unless there's a joke I'm not understanding...?

g4 went down hill many a year ago.

I would really like her to explain herself so I can maybe understand exactly what she was trying to say.
I'm guessing she said that on that show because she believes it would ring with the persons who watch that particular show.

Someone posted this on goNintendo in response and i loved it:

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

C.S. Lewis

I read the first couple of words of this and thought it was rather sophisticated for the average forum go-er, then i realised...

Really nice quote though, I would love to hear them come up with a response.

In comparison to Ratchet, I have to agree with the lovely lady.  Although I'm sure the latest Jak will be another one.  And in some ways Uncharted is an action platformer.

Well, it kind is.

Mario game has always been very clean (content-wise). But that doesn't necessarily mean that adults can't enjoy it.

I think Ratchet is aimed at a slightly older audience (mainly because of their cruder humor).
