The latest Famitsu issue revealed that the legendary side scrolling shoot-em-up series, R-Type, is getting a new iteration exclusively on the Playstation 3. The Japanese magazine lists the title on the table of content page.

It is unknown whether the “3D” in title means that the game will take place in a 3D plane or whether it would be in a 2D plane with 3D graphics (a la R-Type Delta).

I'm really a bad thread maker.

I was a sucker for R-Type back in the day, and will be now, if done right, i'll keep my eye on this one.

I remember when the R-Type developers came forward and said something along the lines of the R-Type they were working on would be the last R-Type due to dwindling popularity. Funny how big of a lie that turned out to be a couple games later.

Day one purchase for me. Loved R-type (had it on my turbo graphics back in the day) and R-type Final on PS2 was great. Can we have the 2.5D remade ones on Live too please?, oh and someone make Einhander HD while your at it.
