It doesn't, I'm just speaking in terms of those people with that attitude. It seems like all they want to do is complain about the problems we face everyday in our lives, but then they add to them by making more babies. It doesn't make sense.

I don't think my life has any REAL purpose. Fate is stupid, as is destiny. Things don't "happen for a reason" and anything and everything that happens in your life is a mixture of effort and luck (or I guess random chance would be a better word). Based on that, I'm just going to do what I'm good at and what brings me fulfillment, just like everyone else in the world.

sounds like a good plan.

and if that can be done by making others happy at the same time, even better.

imo

That said, what're your thoughts on your life and goals?

One thing I've never understood about atheists is that the majority of them have this idea in their head that life is horrible and we're only alive simply because we have to be. Well, if you have that attitude, what good are you doing by fucking and making more humans to live in this fucked up world? isn't it a bit selfish of you to do that to another human being?

Do we? We have the idea that life is horrible and we're only only alive because we have to be? Jeez, thanks for insulting us hombre. Are we not allowed to reproduce now because other people have stereotyped into this whole attitude?

In fact I would go as far to say that we actually value life more than religious people more because we don't think we know what's going to happen at the end, so we try and live life to the best we can now whilst we can.

There is no afterlife. This idea was created by humans long ago when they associated any animate object (from a person to wind) as having something inside them (soul) causing them to move. They thought that this soul that animated a living thing went somewhere when that object died. For us humans, this point is even more important because we still know people who have passed away, we can form dreams about them and infer what their actions and emotions would be on events that are currently happening, so it makes since that primitive humans would still think that their loved one was still around, even if not in the body form.

The meaning of life for humans is no different than the meaning of life of all other animals, self-preservation, reproduction, and in the process making your species better. Not coincidently, this is also what usually makes us happy in lives, and happy is an emotion that humans are fortunate enough to understand.

Their is no meaning of life. It's utterly pointless in the end. Wether you cure cancer or rape a 5yr old you'll still end up dead, but the rapist will be remembered. Humanity sucks ass.

Thanks for stereotyping us. Actually most atheists that I know at least (and coming from one of the least religious countries in the world that is quite a large number) essentially take the view on life that you only live once - make the most of it while you can. It's a pretty damned good worldview in my opinion, if a slightly selfish one =P.

I think there is one purpose with life, which is to reproduce. The meaning of life is slightly different however. The meaning of life is all about what you make of it. I want to be happy, do the things I like and spread the joy. I'm not at all a fan of "living like every day it's your last" though.
I absolutely believe that life is the most wonderful thing you will ever have, and you should have fun, be joyful and live the way you want to. I want that for myself, and I want to help the people close to me to achieve the same thing, by being there for them.

My personal motto is: "Nothing is so bad that it isn't good for something", which always holds true. Sometimes you just need to look a little harder.

The afterlife is another question though. I believe there is an afterlife of some kind. How it works, what happens to us? No clue. But I think it's there.

EDIT: Also, I don't believe there is some all powerful deity watching over us, and there is no heaven or hell when you die.

Alright alright, that was very 'categorical' of me, but I'm just basing that opinion off of the atheists I know. I personally don't care what life mantra most atheists possess because it's none of my business. I was just stating a biased question in the hopes that someone had an answer for it. Sorry if it offended you, I can be a bit thoughtless sometimes.

Anyways, here's a better way to ask it: If life here on earth sucks, why create more life to suffer through it too?

By the looks of your post I'd assume you don't agree with that though.
